ECMWF super computers moving to Italy in 2020

ECMWF supercomputers are set to be housed in Bologna, Italy, from 2020 replacing the current ones in Reading the final decision is expected to be confirmed in June

A new building costing 50million euros (around 42million) will be built on the site of a former tobacco factory

Was this planned pre brexit? Reading the article says it isn't relevant but one wonders if the fact that non British support staff may not be able to come and go as easily as they please after 2019 could be material to any decision?

The EU (founded 1-1-1992) didn't exist until at least 16 years after the EC was founded and housed in Reading (I use 1977 as a date from the article). Incidently I would happily give up housing  such  little ittle prestige project and instead have control of our borders and laws again
