Blimey, didn't work here earlier despite rain rates of 10 mm/hr - shows how much the WBs are coming down in general as well.

My sister is at a decent elevation though, she lives at the top of a block of flats. sarcastic_hand.gif

It was only small flakes karlos. You deserve the big stuff with the effort you've put in.

I think so RE Sunday.. Monday I am not getting any hopes up for as it's not even being mentioned by the likes of Ian F. Lots of model divergence for it as well.

So, there was I sitting st the Ski Centre thinking how odd it might be to have white precipitation falling on the dry slope. Next thing I know we have graupel falling. Can't moan about that then can I?

Somewhere along that welsh boarder is getting some serious action today. Been in a constant streamer for hours.

Interesting how the day of the 18th appears in more than one forecast I've seen recently. So green will our field's be for the festive...

It certainly looks pretty extensive before some slightly less cold air mixes in and turns some of it to rain in the areas where it is snow initially

Need to get some properly cold air in first. Nothing too impressive at the moment.

I was reading a Texas weather warning last night and it said "Colder than normal weather with snowfall, so keep your animals inside tonight". Now that is unusual in southern Texas.

With regards to Sunday think I'll stick well clear of the MAD thread and avoid all news and weather bulletins from any form of media until Monday. Certainly safer in here than being exposed to people having fun in the snow!!!!

Now talk of it getting mild and the Atlantic coming in (Fergie tweet) is one thing but saying the cold will return later is quite another. Once the Atlantic starts revving up its hard to stop and crikey its taken us what 2 weeks of coldish weather to get to this near miss could be 6 weeks before we are in a position to miss out yet again.

In other news Plymouth almost came to a stand still a minute ago, during the latest cold rain shower there were definite flakes of ice soft hail possible sleet mixed in, I cursed my luck wishing it was dark and i was near a lampost (spolier alert:  not to cock my leg!!!)

Based on recent model trends, I'm surprised so little is being made of the Monday potential by the Met & BBC. The latest consensus has more favourable conditions than Sunday due to the undercut of colder/low dewpoint air from the E/NE.

I suppose though it's a bit early to call the trend dependable, as the storm's very existence only really gained consensus this morning, with much question over the intensity and resultant ability to draw that colder air into the circulation.

Yes it could well miss the South or not even materialise at all, also the Sunday snow event could be very disruptive and they wont want to dwell on a possible event on Monday unless it has a high probability i guess. I am eagerly awaiting the 12z.

Yes avoiding the MOD thread probably advised over the coming days for us in this region. Then again this was posted just now.

For entirely my own selfish ways if that could shift 50 miles west?
