interesting , coniston fells where my preferred choice to have a walk out in the white stuff and only a15 minute drive :D

I'll stick my neck out and say if the flow is more westerly then the Coniston Fells will see significant snowfall indeed. I look onto them from my window.

Very intriguing setup isn't it. Never seen anything quite like it. Especially that image with the train of lows. What is encouraging is the fact the met office predict snow. Too many times the models say snow, the met say rain and I trust the models only to be bitterly disappointed. Fingers crossed!!!!

During Friday, increasingly frequent snow showers already affecting parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England will extend across many other northern and western parts of the UK. 2-5 cm of snow is likely fairly widely, with 10-20 cm in places, mainly northern Scotland, Northern Ireland, north Wales and perhaps the northwest Midlands. Icy surfaces are also likely to be an additional hazard, especially overnight. The heaviest and most frequent snow showers will progressively become confined to northeast Scotland during Saturday.
Possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers with possible delays and cancellations to rail and air travel. Some rural communities could be cut off and power supplies interrupted.

Just re-read this.

Looks great.

I live in them!!

I'm right under the Old Man - and look east towards Grizedale from my office and bedroom...

I'll let you all know how much snow we get provided the snow isn't that deep that it knocks off all the Internet etc...:cold:

Hey Chill Pill ?

I like snow but not when it means it knackers my commute! Last time we had it bad here (2010?) it was like an ice rink round here, took me about 5 hours to get home, had to ditch the car at the bottom of the hill by St Hilarys. The council got slated and now seem to get the gritters out at the slightest chance of any cold weather.
