It's not misleading at all. Fact is it was bloody cold month and not likely to be repeated in a long while. It could happen this year but given our warming planet it's a lower probability than say 30 years ago.

Good to have several big factors on our side, let's hope we roll a double 6 :drinks:

Hopefully with the continuing lower solar activity we could hit the jackpot next winter as well. We need all the help we can get these days to get a proper cold spell. It's been cold recently for sure but this is nothing compared to what we had in early and late 2010.

I just had the same problem too. Maybe a cyberattack or something?

Totally agree but let's see how things look by mid-month, good to have a realistic shot of proper cold at least. :good:

Yes it was a bloody cold month, but I’m just saying just because it was cold in 2013 doesn’t make it any more or less likely that March 2017 would be just as cold. If February turns out to be a bust don’t take away our chances of an extreme March! :-D

Has anyone noticed there are no heavy rain/heavy snow icons on the BBC app, or something weird going on with me?

I would like an extreme (cold) March as much as others but the fact is a March like 2013 rarely happen, if you can provide details why you think it *could* happen as little as 5 years after 2013 then go ahead but you haven't. We could get a March like 2006 which was better for cold and snow at the beginning than most March's but even that year was still way behind 2013. It's not what you want to hear but in a warming world we are more likely to get warmer than average weather.

What he is saying is, March 2018 may or may not be cold, but March 2013 has nothing to do with it.  There is a one in six chance of me rolling a six on a dice, if I roll five sixes in a row there is still a one in six chance the next will be six.

Well if that's really true why haven't we had since the late 80s colder or even average winters more often? We've had a lot of milder than average ones. Our climate is warming, most notably in winter its that simple.

Currently snowing, only very light snowflakes, evidence we have very cold surface air at the moment.

A very cold day after a min of -7 degrees, no thaw of lying snow, think we only scraped 1 degree so nearly an ice day, and it felt very bitter even though the morning was gloriously sunny. Indeed the morning reminded me back to the wonderful cold clear blue sky days we had in winters of 09/10 and Dec 10, and at times in winter 12/13, we've had very few days since that dawned with snow cover and low temps and clear skies - more of these please!

We are definately experiencing the coldest and snowiest winter since 12/13 here at least and have a few weeks left.
