nope... we had a warning for ice!!

It was snow and ice.

Anyway, tomorrow is not going to be colder than Tuesday that's for sure but on the other hand the precipitation will be quite a bit heavier so who knows maybe a brief covering of slush on low ground.

I find we always get less than the warning suggests.

Maybe  if there is a chance of merging showers, you might get the totals.

I think Tuesday was a just in case the front had not fizzled as fast and dumped more than predicted.

To be fair, Tuesday was never looking that great and the warnings were not overly inspiring. It was a narrow front that was rapidly weakening. People need to realise that the warnings are not a 'guarantee' of falling and/or settling snow.

So why did we have a warning covering our region? I also remember a post about the Manchester airport meeting saying there was a possibility for 2-3 cms.

That was me:D

there was absolutely no warning for accumulating snow..

I thought there was; 0.5 cm to 3 cm on lower ground or something.

Yes they always take the worst case (or for coldies best case) scenario.

Yes, let's focus on tomorrow. The good news is that the trough that will affect us is already showing on the satellite. It is good to know that it has already formed.

Yes, i like the mention of snow to low levels, it brings more of the region into the game, and i would like as many of my snow starved North western friends to do well..

The warning for Tuesday just gone did mention settling snow of 0.5-3cm in places, which it did, but very isolated, and was very short lived.

Just to clear up the Airport TAF And conference calls these are issued by the METO

To the Airport weather Centre,at the time of the conference call on Monday Evening

The Guidance was for 2-3 cm of snow, however the issue was the timing of the PPN

Which arrived 5 hours later than first thought, originally the PPN was due at 0500.

Anyway that' the past so let' look forward and see what tomorrow brings.
