I’ve got a confession to make

I broke the cardinal rule today. So sure was I that this cold spell was nailed for a week minimum.... I told the wife

I’m sorry this is all my fault.

Pistols or stoning at dawn, I’ll leave that choice down to you. :cray:

Hmmmm for the last 3 days met office app suggested from Sunday to Friday max temps would be 3c with heavy frosts every night. Now the heavy frosts have vanished and by Wednesday we are up to 5c....I smell a rat and it' not called roland

Just looking at the latest run (naughty step for me) looks like that band on Tuesday is looking marginal for the far southwest I.e Cornwall. In general the colder air has shunted a little further east. So on one hand more chance of more precipitation being meaningful as less of a cold barrier to break it up but on the other hand it could get more marginal. Risk=Reward

Looks like that Azores high is the culprit.

Always the way. Feeling a bit deflated now. Oh well.. plenty of water to flow under the bridge yet..

Catacol’s thoughts haven’t gone un-noted for me though, it wouldn’t surprise me if that Azores is placed differently in the coming runs. Ideally we’d like to see that starting tomorrow AM.

Deflated yes, but not defeated. We could still see a few hours of snow on Tuesday if we are lucky. So fingers crossed. That would still be a big improvement on winter thus far down ere!

Just seeing snow falling would be a huge improvement. That's how desperate it is.

I'm in 2 minds about tuesday. Yes ppn charts show a frontal band of snow sweeping across the region which is great but on the other hand these charts are pish and as yet weather apps just have alot of places down as just cloudy

Looking more than likely tuesday is our best shot but I'm starting to become less convinced it will deliver:sorry:

I love how they analyse Ian’s forecast to pieces...

a) it’s the mad thread, not forecast discussion

b) not even Ian knows exactly how it’s going to pan out

c) even if he did know he wouldn’t be allowed to say yet due to people panicking.

d) Wednesday is the end of this cold snap? Maybe.. but who knows?!

Cold snap? I thought we were in for a long dose of at least a week and the beast from the east visiting?

My forecast is for nothing on Tuesday, rain on Thursday. Would love to be proved wrong

No all cancelled now. Ian Ferguson stated earlier on BBC Points West Wednesday would be the last day of current cold snap.

Ah! So predictable. The M$ fiasco will be back soon! I really don't call 5c that cold either lol! Roll on spring!

That’s the thing. People misinterpreted his forecast earlier saying that it was ending on/from Wednesday. They hang on to his every word.. not even the pros know exactly how it’s going to pan out after then
