That area of snow is looking bigger and in a better position to hit us! Looks a lot heavier too than on other models.

Still seems to split if you follow the gfs

Here are a selection of snow charts through this week.

Monday

Could see some light snow flurries, the lightest of shadings on the charts but still snow all the same.

Tuesday

The system set to track in on Tuesday doesn't look that great to me now, as you can see from the charts below it either breaks up over the Pennines or misses us completely depending on which model you look at. Hopefully as others point out with the unusual conditions the models may be underestimating the precipitation and it may actually pep up the closer it gets, could actually turn out a nice surprise.

Wednesday & Thursday

At this stage sunshine and snow showers, but again as we get nearer midweek don't be surprised to see trough features being picked up in the unstable flow pepping up shower activity.

Chin up. Don't forget we were under Amber warnings in December and they got that wrong

Not very scientific but I think most of Tuesday’s snow will head to the midlands! Thinking back through the years it always seems that the place that gets the first snowfall of winter always seems to get future ones. Wouldn’t surprise me at all to wake up on Tuesday to see news reports of heavy snow in Birmingham!

Well as expected we are now out of the warning areas here and are looking at a cold dry week - forecasts from the ukmet back this up.

Fridays low I expect something broadly similar to the low that moved up from the south in cold air in 2013 (snow cover picture attached a few pages ago) areas to the west of here got quite a decent covering out of that whilst we were under the snow shadow.  Coastal areas could do quite well if it stays cold enough, alot to be decided on this LP yet though but it looks similar atm to that low in 2013.

Amber warning out for Yorkshire and Lincolnshire makes it seem like the feature on Tuesday will head further south.

I fully expected this, I think us in the West of the region will see nothing meaningful until the breakdown. The sun being out is a proper bonus tho.

Yep another kick in the teeth as that low which looked like a direct hit for a couple of days looks like avoiding our region like the plague once again!
