This is the first sentence of Jo's weather update, posted this morning at 09.20 here on NW:

So miserable conditions this morning over Hampshire, Devon and Dorset with surface water flooding. The rain will clear from SW Britain this morning as the strong cold winds pick up.

Erm, ......it rained steadily, sometimes moderately here from 7 until 11. Just a mile north of Bristol north boundary. Finished raining 30 mins ago.

From the local rag...

A last minute weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for Dorset today.

The Met Office warning was issued at around 8.30am this morning and says flooding and travel disruption is possible.

The yellow weather alert is valid from 10am until 6pm this evening and covers Bournemouth, Poole and the rest of the county.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Rain will become persistent, with some heavy bursts at times. 10 to 20 mm rain is likely to fall widely, with up to 30 mm in a few places.

Given saturated ground, this may lead to some localised flooding.

“The rain will slowly clear from the west later this afternoon and early evening.”

There are currently no warnings in force for the next few days.

It's been horrible, and cold all day with persistent rain, although it has cleared away now.

A max of just 4.8°C which is the coldest Tmax this year...

As Matt noted we reached the dizzy heights of 6.0°C at: 14:50, after watching the temperature fall this morning, it clawed its way back above the 5C mark here. Looking like more rain for the weekend...

Considering we weren't expecting that much rain today it ended up almost the wettest day of the year so far after the heavy rain earlier. 18.0mm in total.

Morning All, a frosty ice scraping session this morning with the overnight low of  -0.9°C at: 06:29 and a bright clear start..

Rain looks to be diving NW to SE and is about 30 miles to our west, noticing the cloud build up it may not be long before we have it raining here..

Pink sky, ground frost at 06.30, all gone now and the cloud cover Dorsetbred mentions is over us but, as yet, nothing is reaching the ground from it.

Rainfall yesterday from 09.00 was 5.5mm taking total for the system to 18mm.

Unexpected rainfall yesterday here turned into a very wet day for my location with 24.0mm falling in total. Local rivers have already been in flood stage since mid February and this has not helped things here.

First ground frost of the Spring followed last night though, with a low of -0.6°C.

Currently 8.4°C with Sunny skies. Very very welcomed!

A cracking day today though. Shame it won't last. Again.

A lovely day, quite warm if out in the sunshine. Looking forward to a bit of dry warmth now to be honest.
