Unbelievable rain day reminded  me of the floods back in Christmas 2015 with the rain been so persistent and heavy.

Just had a short but heavy-ish Graupel shower here.

Very worrying looking on Twitter at all the flooding over Yorkshire just when we have broke away from Covid this will hit people hard.

That just passed here. Mix of rain, sleet and wet snow with a marked increase in wind speed as it passed.

Calmed down a tad now but it was a marked increase for a while then, interesting trying to radar spot as it passes by!

The flooding videos i have seen in Sheffield are giving me awful reminders of 2007  where was the warnings i cant recall seeing any warning of serious floods as we have seen today and judging by the radar could get a whole lot worse.

Very windy and wet here luckily it’s half term so the roads won’t be busy with lots flooded around the city !

Wind is far worse today than Friday but yet we only warrant a Yellow Warning!

Went for my morning walk at 6 before I hit the computer screens for work. Blowing a hooley and some rain. Walk got cut short as rain propelled by 55mph gusts was just horrid. Looks like yet another day of gales here. Fed up with the weather pattern at the moment, we have had 3 weeks with hardly a day without winds. Managed to replace the fence panel that Eunice destroyed but some other outside jobs which need doing which are just impossible at the moment.

As I and others have said Metoffice warnings just dont seem consistent, I know how they work, but I dont think the current system delivers the right information. You can have a potential 'Red' event which due to lower probability only warrants a yellow warning, and a less severe but more likely event which is also yellow. The Red event if it comes about will result in destruction, and injuries or even deaths, where as the 'Yellow' event is probably going to be minor inconvenience. The public response to these two situations needs to be different.

Yes it's pretty bad here too, very strong gusts indeed! Defo amber territory to me!

Take care all!

Just got back from my lunchtime bike ride. Still windy, probably 25mph gusting to 40mph, but nothing like 6am this morning. Bright sunshine and mild. 11c. Hopefully that is the last of the stormy weather.

Batten down the hatches everyone as winter is just starting to show its face.

Anyone know the wind/gust strengths for are region from Franlkin. Felt way worse this morning on way to work and how the hell all this came to just a yellow warning is beyond me! All the flooding across Yorkshire, Rotherham looks a dire state. God knows what would be needed for a red warning in our region. 100s  of flood warning and barely a mention in the media..

Well another breezy day just missed out on 50mph again peaking at 47mph gusts. Went round the local park. The local stream flooded Woodseats as the council hadn't bothered to clear the mostly blocked culvert. They've done it now but plenty more debris to wash down to block it again. The stream has made itself a new course round some blockages where trees have been cut down but left in the stream bed rather than dragged clear. A few trees down one may have come down today as the it was across the path and others had been cleared away to one side.

Local forecast has come up with some proper snow for us for Tomorrow can't see it and expecting some light wintry showers.

Breezy again tonight as the year without winter goes out on a more lively fashion.

I think they'll be done decent snow showers. For those in the n/w and west of the region. Maybe a streamer setting up.
