Just got in from work and wow,...i didn't expect this snowfall today and much further north than suggested yesterday

still snowing and settling now and it looks on for a few hours yet,..ppn on the increase from the E/SE

and an amber warning for tomorrow into Friday,...it's about freaking time we hit the jackpot👌

should be fun coming home from work tomorrow afternoon to test my new mokka 4x4 out😳

the Mokka 4x4 is fantastic in the snow. We had one up to about a year ago.

a few years ago when the BFTE hit, we were carers at that time and it got everywhere (we live out at Penistone)

we only got stuck once, and that was because we hit a 7 foot snow drift 🙂

Well that was a day of surprises.. considering we were meant to be virtually dry all day. great to see the updates to Amber warnings as well.

Been in York earlire today and was pleasantly surprised to see it snowing.. couldn`t wait to get back home to look at radar... Meant to be In Wombwell, South Yorks this evening around 9.30pm for an hour or so..( work reasons) .. im wondering whether or not to bother

Plenty of snow chances to follow after tomorrow/fri humdinger as well.

I was actually wondering it the low on Monday had any chance of correcting south?

What do you lovely people think!

It certainly could do and I think we are in for maybe another surprise into next week.

First things first though all attention is on tomorrows snow and if it delivers I couldn't care less what happens after 😉. Although when ya get a taste of it we all get greedy and snow blind just want more and more, like good crack never enough ! 😂

Has been snowing on and off all afternoon in north Leeds, but nothing has stuck. Too light so has just soaked everywhere. Temp 0.6c and dropping, so perhaps might get an icy covering overnight before the main event arrives tomorrow.

For those in the south of our region, say Chesterfield, i'd keep an eye on the precipitation further south. It may graze our region before the main event!

Moderate snow here again. Not laying as its a bit too mild, but its promising for tomorrow as the wind is currently easterly, so not too many issues with warming from the sea so far.

Currently 1.4C after a max today of only 3.6C. Ironically the coldest day since 22nd January.

Last night's -4.0C minimum was the coldest in March for 13 years here aswell.

Few heavier bursts coming ashore in the Hull area now, will be interesting to see if F they make it across to give us a dusting after sunset, prior to tomorrow's predicted whiteout! I work in Cleckheaton, well inside the Amber warning and our work are famous for not letting us go home early no matter how much snow there is. So may just stay home if the forecast doesn't change by morning!

Snizzle here at the moment. GFS pushes the mild too far for us although the temperature gradient is large and very close together. Looks a Snow to Rain event for lower ground here then  back to Snow on Friday for a while.  Areas to the north of Sheffield should get nicely pasted though. Come on ECM just need a small shift south.

Actually, just adding to my earlier post, UKMO does have the low further south on Monday.. One to watch maybe, we might need a top up on what is coming LOL

A short spell of sleet that partially settled on cars and gardens, max before this was 4.7 C now down to 1.3 C; still only 0.2 mm showing on Davis but I suspect some snow left not yet melted

The Mokka may well be great in the snow but knowing from experience (I drive a Volvo XC40 AWD) is that you’ll get stuck behind the majority driving FWD. The XC40, and an XC60 before that, have both been fantastic but I’ve found myself driving down the middle of roads to pass other folk who are stuck! 🤦‍♂️

Yeah, i thought an odd update given the warnings. Would have least thought reference to significant accumulations on higher ground..!

I guess it’s true as the text is for all of Yorkshire, including the coast, but yes - would have thought more of an emphasis on significant snow over high ground might be relevant!

Wasn't expecting anything like this today!

Kids have actually made a snowman. Cars getting stuck/slipping (didn't think it was that bad though)

Just the starter before tomorrows main!

You should get some snow tomorrow, not the 20-40cm but perhaps a decent amount.

Your just a bit too far North East, atleast your in the colder uppers so even low lying it should stick.

Hopefully a couple of cm will do, just wanna take the dog out on a snow walk haha. Just thought cause some of the models show rain here.

I'm expecting heavy sleet and rain in a strong easterly wind tomorrow night here. Yuck.

Enjoy the snow further inland, I think eastern facing slopes of the peak district will get some pretty deep snow cover.

Those cars won't have winter tyres that's for sure! EIther that or they're BMWs with rear wheel drive. My dad had a 5-series years ago as a company car and he had to get rescued by my brother who picked him up in his VW Lupo 😆

Luckily I'll be back in Leeds tonight at 200m so I'm expecting some significant accumulations tomorrow.
