In these slack set ups, it's all about luck really, if you do get a heavy shower, it could stick round for a good while and give a decent covering yet 10 miles down the road there's nothing.

It does look like there will be a brief window where some heavy snow showers will hit Eastern areas, does look brief but better than nothing!

All clear in Darlo overnight, just another frosty one leading to more sunshine to start the day

Yep, this cold spell has been a huge letdown so far. Cold without snow is pointless. All you get is a bloody expensive energy bill.

Yellow snow and ice warning issued for parts of the region closest to the coast from noon Tuesday to noon Thursday

  • Durham
  • Gateshead
  • Hartlepool
  • Middlesbrough
  • Newcastle upon Tyne
  • North Tyneside
  • Northumberland
  • Redcar and Cleveland
  • South Tyneside
  • Stockton-on-Tees
  • Sunderland

Wintry showers will affect many areas of northern Scotland and parts of northeast England during this period. A few centimetres of snow are likely to accumulate at low levels with the potential for as much as 15-20 cm over higher ground. In addition, ice is likely to form on untreated surfaces, mainly where some of the showers fall as sleet close to coasts.

It’s amazing but that little shower out to sea near me is just stuck. Some experts say it’s the Teesside snow shield.
it’s amazing to see, you run the radar sequence and it just won’t move while up north getting loads of showers.

Looking better for showers coming in from the sea.  Wonder how far the will reach

I think it looks worse mate.  Convective activity being squashed out of them as the day goes on.  Roll on mid week see what happens then....

They use previous days data though. Although there's hints it could turn less cold they're useless useless this far out I find.  Anything could happen yet I think.

Shower activity picking up now near the coast.  See the radar returns from half an hour apart.  Now the question is.... sleet,  rain or snow?!
