Not a single flake again and not even a frost here this morning, finding this all very strange.

I'm about 10 mile off the coast as the crow flies and managed to wake up to a thaw rather than a covering. Disappointing.

The valleys NW of Durham were all full of freezing fog earlier. Driving up to the tops you broke out of it but there was another layer of low cloud above the fog. Never seen that before. Mostly around -3/-4 despite the cloud.

I'm working in Newcastle today the East end and I can't believe the lack of snow here! Just shows how localised things are at the moment.  I woke up to about 3 to 4 cm this morning back home in Washington.

The snow and ice warning for parts of the region closest to the coast between Tuesday and Thursday will now start at 00:00 tomorrow and not noon

We had nothing falling plus a slight thaw just a few miles further inland in Whickham

I do hope this warning area extends a little further west so we can all have at least a covering, Can see this being a very frustrating time for myself and the Darlington crew. Just a couple of cm will do lol.

Well I’ve just been told off for asking on the MOD thread about the snow chances for this week based on the output. I don’t see how it was off topic? I just wanted to know whether the charts backed up the MO warnings.

UKV shows a peppering of showers Tuesday evening and through Wednesday but they don't look like they penetrate that far inland

You have to be from the South. I avoid posting in there for this exact reason.

Funny how the cold spell is suddenly so much more newsworthy now it's snowed in the SE. 🙄

I normally rate a winter by the ability to build a snowman. If there's not enough snow to build a snowman then the winter has been rubbish.

GFS 6z has a feature running through the region during Wednesday which could give something a bit further inland then showers continuing down the coast through Wednesday night Thursday morning

Some dense fog in the Derwent Valley today, makes it feel like flying above the clouds with the crisp blue skies. Certainly helping to keep the ground solid & snow cover intact for some time yet

You could get some excellent drone footage flying over that. Would look awesome.

It's really wintry out there tonight like.  Still 1-2cm laying from last night in places,  freezing dense fog and  -1.5 already.  Far from the standard December weather.
