Pretty decent I'd say. The southern thread will have you believe something else. I'd say it looks cold for us. Good chance of some snow around. And a biting windchill

All still looking good for Sunday/Monday especially, and probably several days after if most of the models are correct.

Only minor niggle is I'd like the uppers to be a couple of degrees colder, as we're currently looking at approx. -9, but if we could get them that bit lower, it will help with convection.

I'm sick of seen others with these snow events now, one of the most frustrating winters this must be for us in teesside, snow has been on and off for a month or so now and we have missed the majority of it!!

With a current North sea temp of around 6c. 13c difference is needed for decent convection. 9 + 6 = 15 so there should be a bit of convection going on

Yes, not bad at all!

Awesome if this actually verified. Actually think it could be underplayed too. And if more of the lows keep heading under the block and re inforcing the easterly flow

Yes,a belting ECM 12z with plenty of snow for all.

Some much heavier ppn. moving up from the south at the moment could provide more fun and games across high level routes.

Blimey Rollo you're been a bit cautious, I would go for 80% chance of a decent spell for at least  late sat/sun/mon

We have been let down up to 48 hours before the event so just playing my cautious card but if things work out we may well be looking at a prolonged spell, here’s hoping for a snowy Westmoor!

That is proper persistent snowfall from a frontal system which if it comes off, would give a serious amount of snowfall. There is a high risk high reward with this because you don't want that front hitting Yorkshire because the NE would risk being in the drier slot because of cloud cover from the system limiting convection and you don't want the centre of the low get too deep or even too close because that risks marginal uppers getting to close.

Either way, it's getting closer to being more nailed on for the NE, moreen room for error than those in the SE that is for sure.

In the meantime I think I might build an ark after last nights deluge!

Yes,will likely be some local flooding issues.

I do wonder if all that rain fell as snow over the higher hills.

Is this cold spell nailed on now then? So more people like Teesside will get some snow without the dreaded word SLEET!

In my past experience the key is always down to the angle of the East wind. I have fell victim a lot of times being in the middle of the shower line to the North and South again making it very frustrating.

Hoping by this weekend we can take the kids social distance sledging.
