A few pictures from this mornings bleak and at times wet walk.

the stream under the arch is actually the Irwell Valley way footpath and the amount of water shows just how wet the last few weeks have been.

the ancient and mysterious earthworks at Broadclough dykes.

a bit of wet snow around the Deerplay cenotaph, at around 1400ft, believed to be the highest war memorial in England and standing on the side of the hill that forms the start of the River Irwell.

the recognised source is just beyond the farm at the bottom.

the Irwell around a mile down from its source and a mile before it reaches Bacup.

not a lot of snow at that stage this morning but I would imagine it’s pretty thick up on the tops now.

Still on for my chippy tea here. Amazing how quickly the rain stopped when the cold air moved in.

Still snowing here, I reckon I’m only about 28cm short of my chippy tea total now

Unfortunately the GFS 18 z brings in another Easterly. This could go down as the most frustrating and poor February for a while. If the high buggers off to Greenland and opens up a northerly then fair enough.

You’d bet any money it would make it - not in an Easterly however.

The snow is powdery snow now... dew points definitely dropping... eventhough it’s moderate/light it’s not going to overcome the puddles yet... have deposit of slush on bins and car... 0c maybe more showers to come overnight... husband doing well with hip op in hospital... dropped him off at 6am... hopefully out Tuesday... off to bed going for a walk around reservoirs tomorrow with friend and her new pup... hopefully a snowy walk...

Colder air has definitely arrived here now with everything that falls sticking.

still only got about 3 cm but it’s 3 more than I had this morning and 2 more than early evening.

hopefully a bit more overnight and tomorrow’s walk will be in a proper winter wonderland.

What is?

For the competition, I thought we had to say how much we thought we would get. Nobody had asked me yet.
Being a bit Conservative though think there’s a chance I get more than that.
