Our pear and chestnut trees are producing almost no fruit this year.

Interested to hear any other 'autumn fruit reports'...

Horse chestnuts had a terrible time here all the flowers were frosted to brown pulp but some did attempt a kind of half hearted second crop which hasn't produced any conkers I'm aware of.
Northern England is on the northern edge of their range they aren't native and are thought to have been introduced no earlier than 1500 probably from Turkey

Definitely a noticable lack of horse Chestnuts on the trees this year, also our neighbors apple tree hardly has any fruit on it compared to last year.

But I think it's quite normal for trees to vary quite considerably from one year to another.

We’ve only had a couple of hand fulls of pears & cherries this year… the apples were poor in number and size, but does vary year on year… the plums were much better this year, had four crates of plums this year…

this years late frosts and snow May have played a part… plus a lot of plants were 4-6 weeks behind schedule due to this…

Late cold didn’t help but the pear and apples have been ok, cherries though were non existent. A real abundance of red berries on the hedgerows this year…not suggesting that implies anything for the winter though.

Over here in Northern Ireland, our apple tree and blackberry bushes were plentiful, seemed to thrive on the very dry Spring and Summer with just a bit of rain now and again. Also our veg patch was the best ever.

Our soil is fairly poor clay and has to be heavily manured. The record breaking heat over here clearly helped.
