An unexpected covering here too - I only noticed when the dog appeared inside with snow on her back!

I first noticed only because i was going to the garage to rescue some beers from the cold..

Morning all,

Frosty start with a minimum of -1.4c overnight which is the coldest reading of the winter here and one of only a handful of air frosts. -4c currently down the road at Leuchars which again is the coldest reading this winter.

-4c after a low of -5c. Pretty sure the lowest temp of the winter here. Cracking winters morning. Calm, frosty, blue sky! Perfect!

Shame the weekend is to be absolutely pish and just in time for a short break with the kids!

We had a light dusting of sleety snow the other morning which was great to see.

Last night was the coldest for a long time -3.2deg/C, I can still see the frost glistening on the shed roof...are we finally seeing a pattern change to something more seasonal...or will autumn return.

Snow/sleet/rain then snow showers yesterday during a largely despicable day’s weather. This morning has been much improved with a low of -5c. Wasn’t a stellar sunrise over the Cairngorms but still lovely to watch even though it was accompanied by a truly bitter breeze.

This looked interesting...until the high pressure moves east.

Then like the flick of a switch...back to mild SW winds.

You would think with all that massive energy stored up in the jet stream it would obliterate the high pressure as it crosses the Atlantic...but no its stubborn..!!!

About an inch and a half here of slushy wet snow but really beefy shower incoming which might top it up before it turns back to sleety crap during the morning.

Absolutely nothing in Bellshill and Motherwell etc.

Spoiler

I took these off our CCTV on Wednesday night, the one on top 7 minutes later than the one on the bottom.  Didn't lie long but was an interesting few minutes - we are in Bellshill.

Fair enough

I posted that at the back of 7 on Thursday morning, I didn't mean that Bellshill didn't at any time the night before have any slight covering etc, I just meant that at that point, when I had just left Bellshill there was nothing other than a soaking wet ground.

You're quite right.  Apart from that it was dismal and it'd gone virtually as quickly as it arrived.  Another poor winter snow-wise again around here.

Agreed, we've only had the odd couple of cm covering with the only exception being a few weeks ago when we got 9cm and I posted the Drone videos.

We were defo spoiled here last Feb with our 47cm.

Fabulous photies @SW Saltire, oh, and everybody else obviously; no winners or losers here....

A lightly overcast morning gave way to clear blue sky around lunchtime, which stuck about until mid-afternoon and now slowly filling in again. Main point of interest though was the minimum overnight temperature, which at -4.2⁰C was the lowest of the season so far but unremarkable for winter.

Low temperature of -4.2⁰C at 03:50 rose to a high of 6.6⁰C at 14:34 and now back down to 4.9⁰C, humidity is 80%, wind is 2 to 8mph southerly with a maximum gust of 13mph at 15:31, pressure is 1023.2hPa dropping like a stone from 1028.1hPa at 08:44, there’s been 0.2mm of rainfall today and in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is a thin 7/8 and the dew point is at 2⁰C.

Finished lime spreading at midday. By afternoon the wind was strong again and the soil surface very muddy  so pleased we got it done.Better to do it when everyone is less busy and we are all ready to get the sower going in the spring.

I yearn for an old fashioned February with a light east wind, hard persistant frost , blue skies and sunshine. Currently dry very windy and 5c

Cracking frosty day here, wonderful clear air and stunning clouds. Wind and cloud spread in during the afternoon.  May need to batten down the hatches Wednesday onwards next week..
