Apparently a max gust of 64 mph here at 5am although that's not very reliable since it's 15 miles away. Seemed to be peaking at around 50mph at lower levels.

Afternoon all, very windy overnight, as @Norrance noted the Tay Bridge was closed. Gusts peaked at 62mph in Leuchars but would have been higher down the exposed coast. Still, not as bad as slightly further north on the east coast (84mph at Inverbervie).

Kind of surreal this morning waking up to no power whilst outside, although roaring with wind at times, it was pretty much cloudless and sunny.

Had to resort to heating water from our backup container on the gas stove and sparingly flushing toilets (no power means no pump which means no running water for us). Sons school was closed so bring home he reported power back on around 1pm, so well done SSEN. Wife and I made it to our respective schools, which were both unaffected.

Wild night here with top gust 62mph, although probably bit higher than that as bit of shelter from the west by trees. Raw day today with frequent showers. Windy again Sunday night then looks to be a gradual decent back knto winter

Dead calm this morning, currently a very sunny 0.7C with a dusting of snow lying. It at least looks like winter again, for now. First half of the coming week looks like being a continuation of the mild theme we've been enduring, Wed/Thu onwards looking cooler, but not exactly cold? After next weekend it's anyone's guess, but at least the GFS is throwing up the odd cold scenario from time to time.

The government alternative fuel payment, if you rely on oil for central heating for example,is now being paid out. £200 was dropped into my account with Octopus energy today.

Apologies if this information has been posted before.

Nice day here once early sleet and wet snow fizzled out before dawn, frost early and late together with good covering of snow over the hills just to the south , a very foggy morning breaking up to sunny afternoon. Looks stormy again tomorrow night.
