Yes Salty, it had!  But after the warmest day of the year it has quite suddenly taken on a threatening demeanour.  Still sunny towards you, but now looking dark to the east.  No echoes round here, confined to the Pennines.

Question to the farming community.  A week ago the opposite side of the valley was beautifully rolled, giving stripes that Lord’s would be proud of.  Clever clogs me says that with the rate it’s growing you’ll not see the stripes by tomorrow.  Yet a week later they are still there sharp as can be.  Explain please.

Finally what’s all this about public holidays? Thought that was it until St.Andy.

Late rolled and grass tall then some damage done to stems takes  longer to recover if ever totally but rolled when just few  inches of growth no damage and pattern disappears quickly.

Explosive growth these last few days after last weekends rain even parsnips well through. Spring barley starting to wave in the wind and neeps rapidly coming through.

Very sunny yesterday but coolish wind off the Firth in the evening.

Many thanks for the explanation.  Makes complete sense.

Not to be ‘that guy’ but we do need some rain. Ground is getting hard.

Roasting today, already 20.7c. Perfect weather (just some overnight thunderstorms needed to soak the grass)

Went to Drymen show today, really nice agricultural show and it was busy. Cracking views over to Loch Lomond and associated hills/munros.

Dry although I turned up in shorts and a t-shirt so needed to re-assess!
Cloudy and breezy up there with a max of about 15c.

Back in the tropical South it’s just about shorts weather. 20.6c currently, largely sunny.

Northernlights - Haylage has been bailed and wrapped which shows how good May has been.

What a gorgeous week of weather this has turned out to be, and for a change the weekend has so far been just as good.

Thursday evening....

Could contain: Nature, Outdoors, Sky, Grass, Horizon, Field, Grassland, Landscape, Pasture, Land

Friday evening...

Could contain: Nature, Outdoors, Sky, Horizon, Landscape, Grass, Cloud, Scenery, Field, GrasslandCould contain: Nature, Outdoors, Sky, Landscape, Grass, Cloud, Horizon, Field, Grassland, Scenery

Saturday evening...

Could contain: Grass, Plant, Architecture, Building, Housing, House, Manor, Car, Vehicle, Fortress

Scotland at its best, always said the best time to visit was about now as weather tends to be good, everything is fresh green and the midgies have still to emerge in force.

Max of 18c today with a stiff westerly wind.  Ground now starting to dry out noticeably so a shower or two wouldn't go amiss.

Quite a bit of high altitude cloud this evening, perhaps the outside chance of a noctilucent cloud display later tonight...

Could contain: Nature, Outdoors, Sky, Cloud, Cumulus, Vegetation, Landscape, Tree, Scenery, Azure Sky

Today was previously forecast to be poor (15c and cloudy) but it’s been clear blue skies. Another met office failure

Was up in Kilmarnock today and it was very pleasant.
Back home, much the same. Maybe a shade warmer, a max of 19.4c. No wind and the strong sunshine is making it feel warmer than that.

I start 3 weeks of annual leave from Wednesday and looks like i’ve timed it pretty well 😎

Tinder dry already up here, pond has all but dried up already. We missed the heavier rain that was to the south and over the Black Isle last week alas.  Still icy wind here maximum of just 12C here yes that’s 12C. Hopefully warming up this week.

Back from a holiday in Kos. Fortunately I missed the bad weather elsewhere around the Med. It was pleasant with daytime temperatures in the low 20s.

It seems like May has picked up a bit since I left although parts of the east coast will still likely end the month with less than 60% of the average sunshine hours.

Hazy sun here in Pittenweem and temp of 12c in a light easterly breeze.

Just a touch further inland here and a temp of 15.7C in sunshine with a light Easterly breeze after a chilly night.
Also just back from hols, 11 days on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. Caught just an edge of the storms that hit Italy in the first couple of days with high winds and heavy showers, some of which were thundery. From then on mostly sunny with just a couple of thundery showers and temps generally warming up from the low to mid/high twenties. Really liked my first visit there but the travel and transfers were a bit of a pain.

edit. Should have had my specs on. Temp was 18.7C.

Yep, amazing weather, strong sunshine and temps into the low 20's. Looks like we might even get to 25c midweek but either way a great week ahead.

Still 21c here now  with drought conditions. We had 1 day of rain 2 weeks ago and I think it might be about 3 weeks before that to the last decent rain here as we missed the showers. Therefore it's very dry here, the large SUDS pond at the front of the estate has now completely dried up and the water pressure has dropped due to my everyone's hosepipes in action!

Wildfire smoke clearly visible on the NASA satellite image. Light winds with the centre of the High over northern Scotland but not even so it's warm and dry this week.

Signs in the late evening of patchy cloud/ haar coming in from the East on a freshening breeze, now confirmed this morning. Uniform 100% cloud cover at 11C.

It is forecast to break by lunchtime but temps will be down around 6C on yesterdays max.

Quite extensive cloud cover on the west coast too, although when I was out earlier there seemed to be sunshine over on Bute.

Yeah chilly and cloudy morning but nice to open up the windows and let the house cool down before this afternoons heat. The sun has literally just started to come through here so it should warm up quickly 😀

As described earlier the haar did reach a long way west overnight on the mod E'ly winds.  Was fully cloudy an hour ago, but since then it has what I could only call evaporated.  No sudden clearance with a clear back edge to the cloud, but could repeatedly see patches decrease in size and eventually disappear as they crossed the circumzenithal dome (had to look that up).

First indications that the fruit harvest wasn't as badly damaged by the late frosts as I'd feared.  Small fruits now apparent on apples, pears and cherries, but less optimistic with plums.
