After the soggy start, a very acceptable day with a fresher feel to things than of late.

Some decent spells of sunshine and warm, with a max of 20c; currently a impressive 16c.

Light winds and some decent cloudscapes this evening.

Well we're off to Florida in the morning. It's cooled down a bit over there at least. I see there is an early threat for a Caribbean storm in the form of Bret. Knowing our luck it'll end up over us again. Think it was Mathew the last time we had one over us.

Safe trip! It seems like the thunderstorm chances are increasing too... there's another one behind Bret so it should be interesting!

Yeah I seen the one behind it as well. Seems really early.

You enjoy also and stay safe.

Odd to read all these tales of super cells etc from elsewhere.  Mine was a single Cb, precipitation from which fell from about 1430 to 1530, about 15 mins in any one place, before it all ran out of steam.  Radar > 1000 words.

Yep, can see the downpour from here but we're dry too. A 5min downpour today at 3 and one yesterday at the same time which was a bit more extreme. Just about as tropical at gets here!

Torrential rain in Motherwell at the moment and some nearby lighting over towards Hamilton. Heaviest rain I've seen in a few years here, even the guttering couldn't deal with it with water just flowing over the edge of it.

You can see how joe public treat weather warnings sceptically - thunderstorm warning but the forecast shows 30% chance of a light shower....

Lovely start to the day with some good warm sunny spells - already 18c with calm conditions.

The met was showing thunderstorms from 10am to 4pm for Inverurie yesterday that has totally changed to a chance of a heavy shower about 2pm now.

Interesting contrast in the weather today.

Mainly sunny and warm here, currently 20.5c with a brisk westerly wind.

Bone dry but definitely on the borderline with some heavy showers over to the east.

View to the west...

Contrast that with the view to the east...

We were in the warning area this afternoon but it’s stayed dry. Temperature up to 23c again, what a contrast to early June when we were under grey easterly skies and struggling in the low teens. Folks out west may disagree but let’s keep westerlies for the rest of the summer! 😄

Mostly dry here at home by the looks of it but I was over at my parents earlier to the NE of Inverurie and we had several decent rumbles followed by an absolutely biblical shower of rain and hail.

I missed getting the worst of it on camera but got this while it was easing - gutters and drains completely overwhelmed with 2ft deep puddles on the road when I left.

Very heavy, but brief, shower at Westhill around 2:30pm. I didn't hear it but a colleague was sure there was also some thunder associated with it.

Currently 19.5C back home outside Alford.

Summer solstice sunset and barley looking OK in the setting sun.  Odd sharp showers today  but fresher this evening with maximum temperature of 20c today. 20230621_212845.thumb.jpg.a9284459aef00d206b6354f983fc853c.jpg20230621_212921.thumb.jpg.2020c5252a9d419886f669312da10eee.jpg
