Shawbury 0C for 21 hours continuously!

Highest humidity in that time 92% which with +0.4 (the highest it could have been) = dewpoint -0.7 1400 today humidity 83% =dewpoint -2.1

So may or may not have been an ice day so far but definitely no positive dewpoints. So why has the ground been going damp and muddy in many places again? In a few spots, like Sunday, the ice has remained- tops of walls and fences, north facing roofs and sheltered parts of grass and paths (often with trees in the way of where the sun would be if it had been out, which it has not for 3 days). Very odd... (BTW it was negative temps yesterday until 1700)

Sky clearing now so will surely reform the frost everywhere

Max of -0.7⁰C makes it the joint coldest daytime max since 7th January 2021 and probably since March 2018.

It is bloody freezing!

Maxed out at -0.3c at 2pm, now at 3:45pm it’s -0.8c

my coldest day of the year so far…..

but I won’t be happy until I get to the magical -10 🥶

And that’s during the day 🤣

Snap..

 Was about to post similar..

Max -0.4C (played golf, and felt OK due to no wind) but we are much colder here this evening.

Two ice days on the trot now....another couple this week and my 1.0C CET guess may not be looking to stupid at all now.

Was -1,6C at 16:00,  and now down to -1.8C 20 mins later.

Looks like a low one tonight, but with the cirrus-stratus layer seeming to clear to the north, it could drop to anything.

MIA

A safe bet could be minus 6C tonight 🥶🥶🥶

but what’s now starting to get interesting how the mild weather that’s forecasted from Sunday and long onwards could now be a blip ( 48hrs )

Most models are now looking at a northerly that could be with us by Tuesday with the S word with a strong Cheshire flow 👌

Then Wednesday….what lovely charts

spotted the potential next Tuesday, it could vanish into thin air before then (as these often do) but really hope not. looks good for Midlands!   Might be something in the shorter term too but not before that 'milder blip' 😁

🤞  Personally at this stage I would rather any snow event be shown to be slightly to the north of us, to compensate for any southern adjustments that would be likely to happen

Since snow has been lacking around the Midlands you may be interested in this webcam from Princetown, Dartmoor. ..

Hopefully the trend for this next cold snap/spell continues as its showing a lot more snow, even significant snow for the region next week than this week. Also keeping an eye on Sunday, even if we get some temporary accumulations before it turns back to rain is better than nothing, especially as it makes it look more festive getting closer to Christmas. 🙂❄️🎅

The following week may see a bit more snow but I think any snow Sunday will be brief and washed away entirely before the band of precip clears. Unless we see upgrades between now and then of course. 🤞🌨️

-4 and still a decent frost about.   Possibly some snow Saturday for W mids before mild(er) air arrives.  I am not sure anything past next Monday is really fully resolved!

Ended up snowing lightly for about 2 5 hrs.

A couple of centimetres on the ground this cold morning,

Looks superb, and with a min of -4.8C and current -3.6C (9:15) with a little sunshine looks as if it will stick around.

Suspect that last night was a meeting of the colder air from the NE, with the upper level occlusion coming up from the south.

It certainly was interesting with the very fine flakes (half of which went upwards) giving a very misty effect.

Also during it the temp  actually fell.

Golf course closed this morning due to the safety risk.

A satellite image showing the snow in red.

Very spotty of course, with Wolverhampton (M54 area) doing well but areas east of the M6 not seeing anything at all.

Can just about make out the snowy Cotswolds and those in the far south east of our region.
