Another light snow shower passing here now. Most have missed me off the Irish Sea as they are dropping to my South. But I've noticed on the radar showers popping up over Preston so they should be in my fireing line if they don't fizzle out.

A new ice warning is out from the Meto for our region untill tomorrow..

Hit here too, moderate/heavy flurry. Doing quite well in this spell.

With the Met office issuing ice warnings for our region are we expecting more snow today guys?

Lovely out there today, very overcast earlier but the sun is now out. Snow as far as the eye can see, take this over the mild wet muck any day.

Nice surprise this morning with another small top up. Not much but it's better than nothing.

Whatever that last brief shower was has just left everything wet, even though bits of yesterday's snow and last nights small sprinkling are still lying in some select areas. This spell has been better than December's for snow but then so were 6-7 April 2021 and 14th Jan 2015.

Apparently parts of west Shropshire have had nothing in either spell, although the northeast fringe has had more this time and the southern fringe did in Dec. Why is this county so awful for snow, even sometimes in places 200m asl? Over 30 years and I still struggle to find an explanation for the anomalies- not just missing the showers or getting less than other places but also the rain and sleet when other places get snow (Nov 2021 among many others), the higher snow lines and the quicker melting, the often higher dewpoints and both temps and dps seeming to need to be lower than everywhere else.... It defies explanation. It so often needs either brutal cold like Dec 2010 and Mar 2018 or everything just perfectly aligned like Dec 2017 to produce round here. And so often it changes at the border of Shropshire, give or take 5 miles....

Woke up to what looked like had been a graupel shower this morning.  Around 11am there looked to be a heavy snow shower in the vicinity of Shrewsbury, but I just got the tail end of it with a brief flurry.

I went for a drive yesterday through the Shropshire Hills and there was a (albeit slushy) covering of snow.  However, like you say western parts of Shropshire near the Welsh border had nothing, even higher ground and had to head into Wales to see more lying snow.  I have to say I'm a little disappointed with the snow events so far, since this is my first winter in Shropshire and sounds like it's a bit of a snow dome county?!! 😬

Was your last genuine decent snowfall during the Feb/March 2018 BFTE?

Very icy, though. The downside to snow. It’s treacherous out there.

At least you have snow on the ground compared to the snow dome here lol!
