Planning a move to the highlands within 5 years. Not just for the increased snow risk, but also to try and miss the ever increasing heat down here and the never ending building that’s going on. The rate we’re going the whole of Kent will be built over.

Just want a decent garden to grow some veggies and fruit, some proper seasons and some peace and quiet

Our garden of England is quickly  becoming a patio and I'm sorry to say I agree with what you said 100%, if you was going defeat the UK in a  war you stop sending  fruit vegetables corn wheat etc etc we can't look after our population without imports ...and to make it worse they build along the main route in so everyone's caught up in it  traffic lorrys residents ..we would collapse to the where you would be  saying I remember when that was big housing estate ..now its all fields again as we need production here ..otherwise we would starve ..and we can now  get cold but no precipitation..our luck that:(

Don't be too quick to decide a Hebe is dead; they are remarkably resilient woody plants. Bend some stems; if they are dead they will snap pretty readily but live ones will be more resistant. I have just trimmed a large overgrown one back hard and was surprised how many live stems there were which should grow well.

The main issue has of course been the extraordinarily dry sumer which did for a lot of shallow and relatively shallow rooted plants. We have 3 200l rain water fed water butts and still struggled at the end of the dry spell especially with the hose pipe ban so late into early winter.

Thanks Snow tyre.

It's sure looking dead to me

This is what really pees me off is the ever so expansion of homes taking over our countryside, it's the only thing I like in England more then many other places in the world, England's weather is depressing compared to many other places in the world, many places are stuck in the 80s/90s making them look like a homeless person's stronghold, I could go on but I might get banned or into arguments but let's just say the countryside is the only thing I like to see everytime when i'm travelling around especially when it's sunny.

so much for "Kent, the garden of England"

Well, folks, there was quite definitely graupel falling from the sky at around 9 am. But as it wasn't overhead, I've no idea whether it reached the ground or not.

Tomorrow could bring a few decent wintry showers.

yet today was meant to be dry.... put the washing on the line and it drizzled 😕

still, there's plenty of entertainment in the models thread to cheer me up 🙄

I'm thinking there may be even more showers around tomorrow, and a touch colder, probably very hit and miss though.

Think its going to stay tense over there for a while yet.

You must have got unlucky, it's dry and sunny for the most part here, and a strong wind to help blow dry the washing too.

What a beautiful morning it was. Very spring like, but now very chilly and had to pop the heating on.

Some chunky looking showers moving inland from the north Kent coast, any weather reports?

Some graupel and hail been around recently such as earlier today likely to do with the cold air aloft but comparatively fairly warm boundary layer air and that dynamic helps build showers steepen lapse-rates get some updrafts and help with hail and graupel production.

@snowray Can confirm some form of graupel/hail here, melted in my hand too quickly to tell though.

👍More showers moving in I see, possibly get some snow in them later on.

At the moment mostly rain here. To close to the coast I guess, or may be, DP, need to drop a bit, which they might do with this wind direction guess we'll see.

There has been a sleet flurry overnight in SE London!

Clearly visible on car roof tops.

Typical , if only the pattern had been further north as it was a few days back then this clump of showers moving sw would have been associated with colder 850s .

Still a chance of a few flakes as dew points seem to be dropping over the far se.
