It’s gone crazy here last hour.

Was woken in the night several times by the rain battering the windows and saw some lightning flashes.

Pressure on my own station currently 959mb (have cross checked this with others in Folkestone and all reading 959 - 960)

Bit of a nothing here so far. A short period of very heavy rain and a bit of wind.

Measured a gust of 47 mph just after 6am. Pressure currently an extraordinary 946.2hPa, by far the lowest I have measured at sea level. The local flood alert has been lifted.

Highest gust here so far 69 mph, sometime between 6/7 am. Doesn't seem to have calmed any, wish I had my own station to be honest.

Completely still here with the low centre just to the southwest. Strong winds earlier. Very wet night though.

Lots of heavy rain in the early hours here. Hearing reports of trees and debris in the lanes in and round us in Merstham/Nutfield. Also seen a post about flooding in Reigate/Buckland area.

Decided to avoid travelling into the office and staying at home. Though at the moment it’s very still and a little drizzle, though I’m sure there’s more to come.

Love all the 'what storm' chat in the main Ciarán thread.. from folks in the Midlands where it was never forecast to be bad! Gusts seem pretty severe here in Kent. Hope it calms down soon as the new fence (concrete posts) is now definitely leaning and flexing a bit 🙄🤣

I see the end of the amber weather warning has been brought forward to midday and the area shrunk to Kent and Sussex

Calm here in South Woodham Ferrers, and raining. I can see it's rained a lot over night from my flooded garden. I'm guessing I'm near the centre when there's so little wind!

I for one am thankful to miss out on the worse of the wind (hopefully), perhaps it's an age thing.

Last thing I need currently is to replace fence panels, roof(tiles) and what not.

Saturated ground I'd say is the main concern, during my short journey today I noticed two walls down which both looked to be caused by saturated soil, that and probably not built properly, clay for example will swell when saturated, that creates movement and pressure on any wall/fence against it.

Air pressure dropped to 946mb at 0800 today and now stands at 959mb at 1100

I thought my weather station was on the blink when I saw that number, incredible

Probably explains my headache!!

Back in the storm now, but only light rain and winds, sheltered from both the west and north west here, so expect it's over for us.

Fresh north westerly ,no rain ..as I think a  enough is enough ...Halloween that was ,she 'the witch 'gave us too much of a dry spell and now overcooked it with a instant wet spell ..I'll  have to take that wand away..
