Update on the snow tomorrow for Devon and Cornwall. Looks a bit wet rather than white tomorrow night for Cornwall with patchy snow for Devon certainly on the moors. But then Wednesday afternoon looks like a heavier period of snow for Cornwall.

Usual caveats apply. Only one model and is just one possibility but a possibility all the same.

@Liam Burge is this 'assault' from the opposite direction to the weekend yielding better results?

It was in danger of creeping back up to zero or above not long ago. The skies have cleared a little now, and so the temp has begun falling again. -0.9°C

Watching the grass temperature is a good indicator, as it seems to move up or down quickly and way before temps at 2m.

It has gone back above freezing here for the second time today, up to 0.2°C. Still a bit below the high of 0.7°C at the moment.

Yesterday was a real let down for me snow-wise in the end, but did deliver an impressive hoar frost. Now my attention has turned to tomorrow, which may yet bring something to parts of our region. Cornwall best placed but I do wonder if counties further east might get involved a bit.

What are the chances that snowfall stops 5 miles to my south again? 😬

I see the Met Office have picked up on the possibility too. In fact I'm surprised just how far east their zone of potential reaches!

Models often seem to undercook the amount of precipitation generated by outflow aloft from a frontal boundary, so this might be one of those occasions but with the unusual condition that what falls is snow.

Some loss to evaporation on the way down limits the probable amounts at low elevations but I'd take even just a cm or two.

Yep, it snowed for about 10 minutes, we've got a tiny bit laying on the ground now.

Skies are clearing here, but the temp is going up. 0.0°C currently. That's the warmest it has been for over 24 hours.

After it went back up to 0.7°C and stayed there for ages it stopped there and now it's dropped back down to -0.3°C.

The models this morning appear to be swaying towards a lengthening of the cold spell or at the very least there just being a milder blip.

How lovely would it be to have a cold, wintry run up to Christmas and a December cet ending up well below average.

Fingers crossed. 🤞

Edit. Good luck to those in the south of the region today. It looks like snow is likely for many.

Nothing here yet! Mind you we are only at 200 metres. Met office app always over egg the snow risk. Its relatively mild today at 1.6c. DP about 0.5. If we are to get anything significant today I'd suggest it will  a 300 m/asl event, certainly during the day.

Radar is pretty bare at the moment for the moor.
