Suspect 40c has been broken about...now. This really is a momentous day folks.

Stepping outside and knowing I'm here for the first time the UK has ever hit 40c is surreal and amazing.

I work at Heathrow. If it reaches 40 I'm going outside to soak it in. I may seem weird, but I don't care haha. Life is all about experiences no matter how small.

It's 38.1C at our office and I just sat outside to eat my lunch. Even if I was on holiday, by the pool with an ice cold beer I would be finding this too hot!

Doesn't sound crazy to me! I just hit 35 °C for the first time ever at my location, and I immediately went outside to feel it. But then some might say we're all crazy here... 🤪

I went outside 30 mins ago to check on cloud, and the wind is quite strong and feels as hot as a hairdryer.

Weird, no. If it wasn't so hot (and risky) I'd go on a heat chase to experience it - and I'm only a few degrees off at 37.4C 😅

The wind started picking up about 11am here, and yeah it has been a bit of a hair dryer treatment.

East Midlands Airport 38C. To think this temperature had been reached 3 times in the UKs history is now being recorded up in the North Midlands...

What's quite amazing (scary in fact) is that lots of stations are already recording over 100F, which for so long was a "holy grail" temperature in the UK.

This event really is as exceptional as the Canada heat done for you guys further.

I mean it's still exceptional down here in the SE, hence the record, but for you guys it's going to be going way beyond previous records.

After today you've got to think even 40c won't be the holy grail once it's surpassed.

Still can't quite believe we've already beaten the old record though. Only been 3 years.

Though I do think whatever today's is, will hold a while.
