First distant lightning flashes over Stoke on Trent now seen here 😄 looks like I won't be needing the car tonight.

Still well SW of us but have heard a few of the thud type short rumbles you only hear at night.

That is a monster! That's what happens when you see strong DLS, organising cells into a squall line!

Seems most of the electrical activity has moved over me now but still a great start to the week, hoping there's more to come over the next few days 👍

Eastbourne got into the action a lot, the wind must have reached about 50-70mph here too

Getting a lot more fragmented here, so was just about to go to bed when there was this phenomenal IC (possibly CG) bolt, multiple return strikes and a spider right through the clouds and off into the distance. All in all must have lasted 2-3 seconds - without doubt the best strike I’ve seen this year!! ⚡🤩🤩🤩

Not a lot of lightning with this in my area unfortunately though.

When you’re waiting patiently by the window in the dark for lightning, you feel something crawl up your neck, you flick your neck and hear something hit the ground with a thud……I’ve changed my mind - bring back May/June storms 😢😢😢

Many of us getting a storm fix tonight, the best type too, overnight storms, been watching in awe for the past hour from seeing flashes to the S and SW then came overhead then to the E and NE, and a decent bout of intense rain, first proper storm this year... in September! Still buzzing from it and could be a lot more opportunities to come through the coming week and areas to the East and North East looks to be next tonight. A lot of us storm starved are happy now 🙂.

Sadly died a death after that big amount of lightning, went out with a whimper. How unfortunate - must have bumped into some weird air...

Died so quickly, a jet flew through it...
