Found this from last week's Storm(s) on my camera and put it into slow-mo.

Collection of photos from my camera that I don't think I've shared here before (some of them I think I have but from my phone so it's a slightly different angle).

        bonkers!

but best of luck!!

I knew for sure that this wasn't nailed on by any means and was at best a radar watching situation. The radar shows it petering out as it leaves the coast of France so instability is still a fair way off our shores right now. That front needs to be a good few miles further north to enable the plume to get across the channel in my opinion so certainly not feeling too disappointed with the outcome so far.

Good shout mate and exactly what I'm doing. A rather borderline situation here tonight but over the years I've seen setups like this evolve into some pretty decent storms unexpectedly. We'll wait and see.

Yep totally 50/50 mate. Good luck for the coming hours.. latest obvs looking interesting, we  now just need a rapid cell or two to rapidly form and build as this front moves northwards...anyone's guess, but I'm wishing more than expecting to be fair... 🤞🤞

Thanks buddy and to be fair it's at very best 50/50! Probably less! Some coastal areas on the south coast may get a small light show but it's just not quite right at the moment. The front has stalled somewhat which is reducing my confidence of any sort of event so unless the front moves further north then I'm only radar watching for the foreseeable.

Totally with you, and a very much accurate assessment, based on current radar..  Gutted i guess, as totally missed out on the fun and games experienced by many last week! Ah well, here's hoping... or bring on April/May onwards next year...🤣🤣

Probs still 'hoping', but interesting to see some small development's south of Devon/Dorset in the channel...could be nothing to sing about.. but then again...🙄

It's a very slim chance but the weather can always throw up a suprise or two at this time of the year. But I'm not too confident if I'm being honest.

Well if the rest of the year is anything to go by we can probably expect a low risk storm forecast every day from now until Dec 1st resulting in just one rumble of thunder somewhere north of London in October (not counting the steric that always registers somewhere near Aberdeen on blitzortung)

Meanwhile Rouen will be hit by a succession of discrete and very electrical active storms all the way up to Christmas Day.

Welcome to the U.K. winter storm season 😝

I'm sure there will be many thunder days to come during Autumn given the above average SSTs, but for any major (large) storm systems I imagine that's more or less it for this year. Been quite a memorable year for coastal southern areas with numerous rounds of elevated thunderstorms during the Summer months, definitely a year I'll remember for a number of reasons. I believe it actually takes us to a slightly above average thunder year!

Going forward as I said there will still a few opportunities for a few decent storms. We're approaching the time of year now where under the correct setup, we can still experience low-topped supercells, an increase (possibly) in funnel clouds/waterspouts along coastal areas and classic cold-front squall lines.

A pleasure as always being involved with everyone on this forum, the Storm & Convective Discussion thread is a lovely place to be with many like-minded weather enthusiasts!

A funny old year down here. Exceptional storms in May and September, with nothing but failed/weak plumes and skies full of instability that came to nothing in the actual summer months. I will settle for it, as overall it's been better for me personally than all of 2018/19/20/21. But let's hope for some more action in the prime plume months of June and July next year 🤞

Here, I have had thunder on 14 days this year, already the highest number of thunder days for me personally since 2014. I had 5 days in May, 2 each in June, July and August and 3 in the recent thundery spell this month. The majority of activity was at dusk or in the night.

I endorse what Eagle Eye has just said. Also, you can enjoy seeing other people's recent experiences of storms, especially if you unluckily happen to miss out experiencing any yourself at the time.

I've missed out quite a few times this year, but even so I've been very positive as I got only a few storms passing me and one of them was very crazy with flashes every one to two seconds as it went to the north sea typically!

Some unstable mid-level, cumulus and small cumulonimbus clouds taken on the evening of last Thursday 8th September.

I even caught a rainbow at the base of one of the small cumulonimbus clouds.

Unfortunately none of these clouds produced any thunder at the time.
