Very fine snow floating in the air here - bodes well for tomorrow despite models showing the Manchester snow shield in effect?

Would have thought they would use a luxury coach to take the Real Betis team to the terminal.🤣

That A340 is 25.5 years old.  Need a coach to match from the mid 90's

What did he say?

Graphics showed a sleety rain mix over us man, then went on to say he doesn’t expect Liverpool to get much. I reckon he’s basing that off of the 00z ecm though. Not too worried as 6z ecm has shifted things south

Wind will be stronger tomorrow which seems to activate the shield but usually this from a SE wind, it looks E and NE tomorrow which more often than not reduces the strength of the shield.

What did he say?

Just saying most over the Pennines, not so much settling in towns and cities.

But then that's just repeating what the Met office statement says.

Orographic lift from a sfiff easterly to blame as well

I fine NE perfect. The height of the higher ground is less and not as broad so snow gets over more easily. SE though and 2000ft Kinder Scout is like you shall not pass.

After re-reading the warning, I'm a bit more positive than earlier....

They say "This is expected to move slowly north during the day, becoming slow-moving across north Wales, northern England, Northern Ireland and southern Scotland during the afternoon and evening before slowly clearing southeast on Friday."

It wouldn't need much of a correction to keep things as all snow for many, let's hope they are wrong, it can still change on the day itself.

The last time I can remember them getting it badly wrong was 5th Jan 2010, a system moving south bringing snow was expected to scoot through quite quickly, however, this did not happen, stalled somewhat leaving a nice 3 inches or more to many parts.

@Weather-history can you remember any more recent ones?

It's been snowing for the past hour or so here. It's been mostly light, but it has definitely picked up intensity over the past ten minutes, lots of tiny flakes. Temp has been dropping as well, currently 1.3C, dewpoint -1C.

Radar shows light precip but there's nothing here, it's not even all that cold or at least it doesn't feel cold even though it is, it's weird

I can confirm light snow is falling in runcorn! Reckon there’s been a solid 3 inches. That last part was a joke.

Papillon doggo doesn’t approve of being so cold.
