Yes, rather different to yesterday morning. A rising temperature overnight and outbreaks of rain at times, currently 5.1C.

A fascinating read as always and nice to see that it is possible for what looks like a channel low to dump large amounts of snow across all of our region rather than stopping at the north Midlands.

meanwhile back to early winter 2023 and I can hear the rain bouncing on the conservatory roof.

The default conditions of mild and wet are back again🤬

Some very strong gusts this morning.

Did we have a warning for this or just rain?

Note one of  the reports mentioned the Transit of Venus. That would be a kick in the teeth if you were into astronomy and the weather prevented you witnessing this exceptionally rare event. The next occasion after this was.........June 2004 and on that occasion it was witnessed from our region.

Confusion in my view centres on having so many separate yellow weather warnings in place. Forecast seems to suggest that the heaviest of the rain here will be this afternoon and evening, so confusing that the yellow weather warning stops at 7pm. With all the saturated ground around, I don't dispute the validity of a yellow weather warning, only that it does seem very piece-meal at the  moment, with confusion on timings. Currently damp and very blowy but nothing more, we shall need to wait and see what happens later.

Yip, same here. A truly awful winters day. These types of days really do get me down.
