Brr cold rain all morning.  3.9C.  Sneaky east breeze.

Snow is slowly thawing up here but I’ve still had to clear the remainder off the drive so that the cold rain can get to work in removing what’s left.

lower down though it’s probably a different story, certainly little or nothing left as I went down the Calder Valley to do a job at daughter and boyfriends house this morning.

just hope that the temperatures keep above freezing tonight otherwise todays thaw will be lethal.

One of those raw old school days, with thick snow on the ground and a slow thaw. Bits of cold rain. Current temp 4.4 degrees.

The week looking wet, and dark, definate dark days before christmas feel.

Patches of residual snow atop Croker Hill 402m asl this am, but it has all gone now.  Had light to moderate continuous rain all day and feeling colder than the current 5.4°C.  So back to miserable, wet, Atlantic driven greyness later this week, bit windy Thur into Fri.

An absolutely grim day. Hasn't been much above freezing, raining all day, and very dark. Had my office light on most of the day. The worst of winter days.

Been dark overcast cloud hugging hills like a blanket… only been 2-3c all day… cold rainy yuck  

woodburner on bought some more coal and kindling after a quick run around Tesco

making sausage casserole with peppers and onions and some crusty bread to go with it… winter warmer for tea… 

Edit… at least we’re not having flooding Somerset where my mum, sister, aunties live around Taunton and Ilminster having horrendous flooding ongoing… my poor auntie and her neighbours moved all vehicles to higher ground… they live in single story homes and have flooded many times…

These are the dark days before christmas, often very dull with low light all day. Last year we were spared such conditions for much of December until the 18th. We were spared last week, but not this week coming. The next fortnight is the absolute low point light level wise.

Sorry for your loss if I could I'd give you a little hug I would. My mum has been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer last week and has a growth on her kidney so suffice to say it's been a worrying time lately and they aren't sure how long she has left. Didn't want to put a dampner on this thread before the snow arrived so didn't say anything. Been here there and everywhere with her for tests, scans and biopsies over the last few weeks. Been a kick in the teeth really as she's never seen me truly happy in my life so far as I've had a lot of problems. Just as I was getting my life on track more than ever before we got this bad news. Feel bad that I've not really had long with her as she had me at nearly 44 and I'm 38 now. One thing I'll say though is your mum wouldn't want you to be sad forever about her, this is what my mum said to me the other day. She said live your life Gareth I've had mine, I don't want you to be sad about me all the time after I go as it's not what I would've wanted for you, this made me feel a bit better. Like @Had Worsesays time is a healer as well.
