Snow coming down a bit more intense over the past half hour, still a bit wet rather than white.

Heavy small snowflakes blowing around in a mini blizzard. Signs of slight settling on some surfaces now as the Sun sinks.

Here is the Met text forecast for today written this morning.

"

Today:

A frosty and bright start, with mostly sunny skies across the north. Southern areas will tend to see more in the way of cloud. Staying dry but cold for all and turning breezier through the day. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

"

At least they got the ‘little more in the way of cloud’ bit right!

Having what most are getting... almost like a snowy version of heavy drizzle.   Sticking to grassy areas, bin lids, garden shed etc... but melting on the roads and pavements.

I remember end of November 2021 a good few inches of snow but absolutely no warning from the met office. So I'm usually sceptical about anything they say. Sometimes it's just best to look out of the window lol.

Is this PPN supposed to intensify at anytime later? It’s pretty much stopped snowing here completely.

Every forecaster I have seen last few days has said how hard it is to forecast this set up.   So I think of it less as the met o getting it wrong and more that we still dont have the tools/science to make very accurate predictions in this sort of set up.

No, according to the Met it was supposed to stay dry.

Temp here is 0.5c colder than expected with light sleet/snow.  Guess it will turn more to snow as the evening starts and stick and icy

Well the shadow is still there. Looks like west and south Manchester. East of the city centre could be ok. Very good for you guys in the Peaks.

Looking increasingly likely things are going to be too marginal for lower levels sadly and when the colder air does start to dig back in, the rain shadow affect comes into play more so I can understand why the Met are saying nothing significant for lower levels.
