Tail showing nicely

What ISO was it ?  Samyang or Rokinon lens?

It was taken with the 135mm samyang f2, and eos r @ iso 1600

It was a bit optimistic to expect too much with that combo, and it was just too small at that focal length, so I'm shooting @500 as we speak ( sigma 150-600c ) 🤞

Are you thinking of giving it a go this evening? Almost perfect conditions, if you can get away for any light pollution.

This is 1 60 second exposure 500mm @500mm, looking forward to stacking 😁

Could contain: Monitor, Screen, Computer Hardware, Electronics, Hardware, Outdoors, Nature, Outer Space, Astronomy

@Southern Storm

That's a good capture

I had binoculars on my tripod earlier, those two stars in the bottom right of your photo I remember seeing those, and the comet was a light patch slightly elongated. I took a few more shots about 4.30am , seems like a cloudy week coming up.

Yeah, I think we have a couple of decent days of weather left, but I'm sure we'll have other opportunities

We still have just over a week until it's at the closest distance from earth, and will likely get a little brighter, however it's not expected to be as bright as originally thought, going by some recent observations/calculations that have been made.

In February it tracks by Mars and Taurus. Depends what weather we have at the time...

Slowly getting brighter. This was a stack of around 200 images with four-second exposures

Tried some shots over the sea yesterday, think I'll have to try the tracker out tonight otherwise I'll never do it.

Definitely brightened from the last time I've had a go with the camera, can see more of a tail in the single exposures.

comet3.thumb.png.17dfea585b116e23e4e2665f5ee3c9d3.png

Best one I've got from the exposures I did, 9 ISO 3200 exposures at 3 seconds at 72 mm

That's a really nice closeup!

Are you using a go-to mount? And have you thought of stacking you images?

I would imagine you'd end up with a seriously detailed image of the nucleus

Nice

In Cassiopeia there's another Comet C/2020 V2. It's not so easy to photograph because it's less bright. Magnitude 10.5 in Stellarium. It may be good with the Star Adventurer and stacking.

I got a photo with 10 seconds at ISO 6400 and 12800 +  300mm lens.

Could contain: Night, Outdoors, Nature, Outer Space, Astronomy, Nebula, Starry Sky

Some great images coming in to the forum👏

Another practice this morning around 1am to the NE

I changed a few settings and managed to snook out a couple of seconds more exposure time ( tracking mount on my wish list😉)

8" @ 5.0f- ISO 1000- LP filter fitted- WB Tungsten- lens at 150mm

30 stacked in Sequator

Could contain: Outer Space, Astronomy, Nebula, Nature, Outdoors

Still not experienced enough to remove the noise from the processed image in any editors, but practice make`s perfect

I do feel that a trip outside is needed away from the extreme LP to be able to get the best out of this comet😒

In the near future

Could contain: Night, Outdoors, Nature, Outer Space, Astronomy, Windmill

Nice shot!

The tail is not that easy to capture with this comet considering it's proximity, but you captured it, and was it untracked?

This is from this morning's session, but managed to to get more exposure time on this occasion

We're definitely entering prime time for e3, we just need the weather to ay ball

Could contain: Nature, Outdoors, Outer Space, Astronomy, Comet

Yes, without a tracker still 😄

Lovely shots btw

The comet next to NGC 5907 on Sunday. Looks like it's developed a stunning anti-tail now.

Ignore the bending artefacts, I have absolutely no idea what's caused them. 😕

Quick shot from 01.45am, was already up so checked the weather, didn't expect any clear skies. It's hazy and humid -3C found the comet easily in binoculars.

Single shot 20 seconds ISO 12800 300mm f5.8

Could contain: Outer Space, Astronomy, Outdoors, Nature, Nebula

That's a good one

What settings did you have a tracking mount?

Excellent capture!

This is one of the strangest Comets I've seen, not very bright, but comes out very nicely if you can avoid light pollution

The artifact that is showing in you images could be from a light source nearby, I've had a few sessions totally ruined but a stray light, it doesn't even need to be that bright

I don't have a tracking mount yet, but I used ISO6400 with an aperture of f3.5 and four seconds of exposure time per image.

Thanks - that definitely could be the case. I'm going to alter some of the settings in DSS too in hope that it does anything.

I bought a brand-new Canon M50ii to replace the Nikon D3100 this week, although the downside is that imaging Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is limited to just 55mm for now - but I do have a second-hand 300mm on the way by the 31st to practise manual focus with - netherless with clear skies this late evening I had another go at imaging the Comet and it's no surprise that it's brighter than a week ago, maybe naked-eye visibility? if my eyes haven't decieved me.

Could contain: Night, Nature, Outdoors, Outer Space, Astronomy, Nebula, Starry Sky
