Looks like it's mostly a night time storm, so perhaps impacts to people a bit lower than if it was during the daytime.

However Friday night a lot of young people will probably be having the usual weekly night out until early Saturday so not really sure.

Gusts so far in the 60mph range.

I'm sure the Met office will find somewhere exposed with a 70mph by the close of play?

Admittedly, I'm not trying to keep a tent up in North Wales, or tow a caravan up the M5, but Betty looked to be not that much in the end. Over here t'other side of the Pennines, it rained a bit and there's a breeze - nothing out of the ordinary even for the time of year.

Here on top of the Pennines though it's very windy, surprised we aren't in a warning area as it's very gusty for the time of year.

Spent most of the early hours awake and measuring the wind up our local hill in around Brongest.

Wasn't as bad as I'd feared thankfully and looks like any damage was limited to leaves and twigs everywhere but I still had a max of 41.5mph and a few more of 40mph or 41mph and with most gusts in the 30's mph.

Was quite loud standing next to the ash tree that's up there when the biggest gusts came but it sounded more amazing then it usually does in the Winter when there are no leaves on the tree and you just get that usual howling sound.

I am also not sure if i saw two flashes of lightning for a very short period to the south around midnight as i first wen't out and i was making my way up the hill.
