BBC weather just said 20 to 30cms in parts of Belgium and Germany grrr that could have been us. The system has been given a name by the French as well, Irene apparently...

Well obviously I now am singing Come on Irene too-ra-loo-ra.. but it's my birthday and I've had wine, whilst wishing for snow.

Knee deep in snow I am told when I was born in 1979.

Nope no point, nothing reaches anywhere near here till tomorrow,  if it makes it here, waiting up for us is silly.

I won't be watching it.

But for now it seems to be nudging upwards... don't know for how long though...

Well the temperature last night hit its low straight after Midnight.

Today's Low Temp   -6.1°C  at    0:04

Thought it may get at least that low again or even lower at the crack of Dawn but alas the temperature read -6c at 8:00am before the 🌞 got here and led to a bright crispy day reaching the dizzy height of

Today's High Temp   3.6°C   at  14:00

Tonight has seen radar watching commence to see where the possible snow 🌨️ line lands. It won't come anywhere close to me so I'll watch the temperature instead, speaking of which it has got into sub-zero temps but in last hour has slowly begun rising as the Barometer is falling on the SSW wind.

Temperature
-4.9°C

Humidity
92%

Dewpoint
-6.0°C

Wind Chill
-4.9°C

Wind
SSW

Barometer
998.9 hPa & Falling Rapidly

I have fingers and toes crossed for those guys and gals who get any snow ❄️🌨️ 😁

Guess we'll see, when does the low start turning the winds eastward.

I cannot believe it!

I look at that radar and literally feel like someone has stolen from us?

I mean look at it for goodness sake 😆 🤣 😂

It's ridiculous how close that was to an epic snow event.

Will it push up though on a pivot?

Feel sorry for the likes of the far south .

That's so close you can smell it!

It's best it didn't it will be 12 degrees and raining heavily come the weekend. You want snow to be deep and crisp and even for more than 10 minutes lol

I'd take a few days !

Not up in temps by much untill at least Sunday here.

Once it's on the ground it cools everything.

With no rain.

It would stick around long enough for kids to enjoy sledging etc.

It's stalled at Belgium, what will it do?

Seems to be crawling upwards to me?

Yep now seems to be moving straight up into Brighton and Isle of white and Plymouth.

It's like the whole system from end to end shunted north 😆 🤣

But it's very fun to watch on the radar.

It's like it's hit a wall and started bubbling upwards instead.

Come on Irene, that's just cruel!!

Met Office, with yet another tease to get the Mad Thread, excited:

Wednesday 31 Jan - Wednesday 14 Feb

After a likely milder, more unsettled spell during the preceding week, into early February there is again an increased likelihood of high pressure having greater influence on UK weather patterns. There is uncertainty in exactly where high pressure will become established but this increases the likelihood of drier conditions. There is also a greater than normal likelihood of winds from the east leading to an increased chance, compared to normal, of cold spells. Whilst a drier and colder scenario is most likely during early February, there remains a chance of some milder interludes with spells of rain and strong winds, especially across the north.

Meanwhile in entertainment news, the first episode of - image.png.1ee321e04825660fd500ed07f35e5644.png was very good.

ITV about to release another blockbuster Series entitled - AFTER THE THAW.

Tom Q. 👍

Too much cloud; you're probably hovering around 1c but your dewpoint is around -2.

It's partly cloudy here and we're hovering just above freezing.

Have you tried this one? You can zoom right in and check temps etc. And you can see there are flurries as far north as Mottingham.

I don't think I have ever seen an area of precipitation hang around for so long and so close to the coast without making landfall.

Really is quite unfortunate
