Was it the ECM that wasn’t showing it hitting the central belt in earlier runs?

Well I don't think coastal Irvine will receive anything more than a slushy mess ..so it's no measurable snow for me this week. What are the rest of your predictions for your hoose..farm...dwelling ??

Yip ecm has caught up with the gfs and icon. . Hopefully tomorrow some upgrades and warnings.

Significant snow likely across northern Scotland, even down to sea level over the coming days.

Colder dps creeping in to the north. 3.6c/3c here, temps now falling 1.5c/hrs presently. Ooh, @Halfamilefromnowhere just posted

Yes it had moved further north compared to recent runs. 
 

Worth noting there is also an area of low pressure off the NE coast at 96 hours. Possible polar low with such cold air and low thicknesses?

As Sunday and Saturday are travelling days for me I thought I’d see the latest forecast for the 5 full days I have whilst in Dalwhinnie. Pleased to see the -12°C is back on the cards, although looks like finally getting above freezing on Friday…. That’s a light jumper weather in North Yorkshire

Probably pushing things a bit but given there looks like a good possibility of decent showers for several days and minimal if any melting then I reckon 20cm+ is easily possible. 

That little feature popping up to the north looks interesting too.

Left Ayr tonight at 6oc got to Kilmarnock it had dropped to 2 o’clock hime now and it’s bitter at 0oc 

Interesting week ahead for most of Scotland . Not often we have all the ducks in a row for snow so I’m certain it will be memorable for some . Hoping that the cold makes a return after the milder interlude

Had a quick jaunt up Dunsyre Hill, a steep wee hill a few miles north of Biggar, this afternoon. Nice views in the low winter sun, although the start of the way up, through a gently sloping field, was a complete and utter mudbath churned up by farm vehicles. A good hard frost would’ve improved that part no end.

Will these scenes be white with snow in a few days though? That’s the question!

-5C's in there for minima aswell plus 2 ice days over the next 4 days for you. MetO generally slightly over estimates temps too, especially the night time minima temps.

Managed 4 ice days this week with a near one yesterday, so it’s been a chilly one. 4.8max today. Wet over the last couple of hrs, garden is currently a thin squelchy top layer with everything underneath frozen solid. Been sleety within the last hour

A quick look at the shower distribution over the next 24 hours. Looks like streamers setting up and they moving around a bit, NMM model does show them making good progress inland so will be interesting to see how it plays out.

little rainshower as I walk the dog, feeling a fair bit cooler back down at 3cish looking at nearest stations. Still confident will see enough snow for a snowball fight at some point this week.

How come in Scotland showers tend not to penetrate to far inland from a northern direction but on mainland Europe they appear to go 100s miles in land 

 

is it down to the highlands ?

I think it is because of the mountains. Not expecting anything in South Lanarkshire for the next few days. Tuesday looks the best option as the front moves in from the West.
