Wind definitely getting up now - again, hard to tell if it's actually snowing or just blowing in. Was quite drifty in places earlier today even with only a moderate breeze so I agree, my trip to Buckie with the trailer first thing could be fun.

We also have the heaviest snow of this cold spell falling just now.

Same here now. Great waves of big heavy flakes billowing around.

Unfortunately it looks like the temp is about to go up through 0C very soon. Bugger bugger bugger.

Sadly I don't see much of any of this last band of snow reaching the city with anything bar a flake in the wind, the chase for the next cold spell has already started, a week of normal or slightly above temp wise to get through first

Last minute Snaw and ice warning just issued for much of the Central belt as those showers begin to head in.

Well today is time to go back to North Yorkshire day, looks like there’s been a at least a couple of inches overnight so far.
Very windy and much warmer nearest weather station showing nearly 1c.

Windy here too and temp is currently 1.8C, having got back above freezing around 3am. Only a thin covering of snow overnight and the current showers seem to be dying out just to our west.

So that appears to be that then. It was a fairly good event here, better than I expected, but not in the 'epic' class, not by the standard of these parts anyway. Pity it was largely confined to Northern areas.

On to the search for the next 'event' then.

Just been out with the dog and the thaws on. Temp currently 3.8c with a fresh wind. Onto the next cold chase then

Temperature has risen steadily since the overnight low of -4.2c to 1.7c currently so looks like the thaw has set in here in Banchory. Now looking forward to the hunt for the next episode of sna but if we could get some blue skies in between, I’ll be happy.

I see I'm under a yellow warning for snow 😂

Not a chance looking at the radar and as it's pushing 2.5c it'd be a sleety mess anyway 🫣🥴

Ha - well just in the last throes of things before the Atlantic gets savage - we got a 'dusting' of icing sugar 😂😂

Here's hoping a real deal easterly can kick in during Feb to rescue winter !

MJO has lost a little juice this week according to VP Anoms, however blocking still advertised towards the end of the month.

You get all the benefits of the snow too, without having to go through the horrible mess of the thaw. Glad you had such a good week.

Yep, snow has turned to rain now but we ended up with a better dusting and had it for a longer time on the ground that Tuesdays front😀 Roll on summer...

Just actually looked outside and it appears we did, in fact, have a flurry at some point 😂🤣

Hard to tell against the frost it's that light 😂

Kids not amused the school has reopened and the transport is on time (surprised at latter as roads still packed with snow).

Temperature up to 1.8c with a brisk westerly wind and drips galore coming of the roof.

🤞 For a slow thaw as ground still saturated from the Christmas period deluge.

Pavements and woodland paths all lethal. Rain has turned to ice on the cold ground. Canned the dog walk halfway through. Bring on the thaw now!
