Lights went out at work in Irvine and switched back on

Just been out with the dog and the daughter. Managed to spoof the husband with this video To be fair it was pretty windy, we're at the top of a hill so depending on wind direction we can get it pretty bad.

and "A tree has fallen onto the railway near East Linton on the East Coast Main Line. Initial reports are that the overhead wires have been damaged. Our engineers are responding. More soon." Scotrail

Yep squall moving in, same band as northern Ireland earlier. Pretty crazy and lots of reports of power going on and off from Ayrshire.

We”vehad two power cuts already. Everyone has a torch and some head torches. When is this due to peak?

Mrs SIS was mocking me earlier for getting the generator all primed and ready to go, saying 'You just really want a power cut so you can play with your new toy!'.

She may yet be laughing on the other side of her face from posts coming in!

Just read the A90 is closed near Forfar, power lines down..

Torrential rain here for the last couple of hours on a gale force southerly wind at 10c.

Really hoping some high pressure shows up soon.

The lights have also been starting to flicker away here over the last 15 mins. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of us lose power tonight.

We had about an hour of torrential rain that stopped about about 15 mins ago, as abruptly as it started. The last remnants of snow in the gutters all joined in the fun of the rivers running down the roads and puddles you wouldn't try paddling through.

Last hour has seen every 5 minute period notch up a gust > 100mph at the top of Glencoe ski area, with a peak of 125mph at the top of the Main Basin T-bar around 1097m. Been up to 88mph at the carpark level, given the way the wind can rip down the East Ridge of Meall a' Bhuiridh, it's going to be brutal on the A82 around the Rannoch Moor summit!

Between now and midnight I think for us. UKV now has a swathe of 90-100mph gusts moving into Ayrshire between 10pm and midnight... Just heard the first "whistling" sound from the winds here.

855pm and wind is eerily calm at zero mph which is worrying..

Wind roaring here, thought was a plane in trouble flying low but nowt on flightradar and the noise continued. Husband had to move car because last big storm bits of the roof flew off and just missed it. Hope you all stay safe warm and cosy tonight Kilties!

I suspect I may wake up to fence damage tomorrow going by the sound of the wind which has ramped up in the last hour.

Will be in for an interrupted night's sleep as one of the dogs really doesn't settle if it's windy outside and lies shaking next to me.  May pan him off to my son's room for the night as he seems to settle there better.

Not looking forward to the morning commute even though the east coast will be less affected than what the west sounds like it's going to be.
