Storms and Convective discussion - May 2024

Becoming very breezy and an ominous feel. It’s a strange feeling though because of it being early in the year it actually feels quite cold. If I was just woken up and hadn’t read a forecast I’d just assume it was a breezy westerly pattern and wouldn’t have assumed it was so volatile.

Frequent lightning approaching from the East.

 LetItSnow! huge mcs now Essex has somthig too just one big line will get the whole of the south east soon. Can't belive we had nothing yet

I don’t know if it’s my eyes playing tricks on me but I feel like I can see flickers through the low cloud. Almost like the clouds are glitching.

All the storms missed me by like two miles  had a constant line in the ocean above us for hours

 Eagle Eye It's not massively noisy now. Kids giggling in bed. But had a few really big ones as it started that woke the whole house up. Pray for me as I try and go them back to bed!!

This is actually The first time I've captured a bolt hitting the Earth, hope no damage was caused.

For this one picture alone it was totally worth the drive

 Andy Bown Yes, it's just passed to the North of here, heading your way Andy. We have another cell approaching from the SE.

Nothing to snap though. It's just lighting the whole sky up. In the greenhouse, cos it's tonking it down.

Some frequent flashes now to the East and distant rumbles. I'm pleased I woke up

It wasn’t my eyes as the first big flicker just peered through the low cloud. I can hear the rumbles and the breeze is picking up   . The childhood fear in me always comes out when a storm is approaching. I’m not actually afraid but it’s like a leftover of it, I get butterflies and a dry mouth and a bit shakey. Going to start recording soon. rumbles  turning to a constant low roar.

Looks like London next, think this was near where it was showing 1500 cape or something like that from a post I saw earlier

Spectacular bright lightning and getting loud as this cell passes overhead.

Lots of strobe like flashes. There is an almost continuous rumble but not that loud. The storm must be fairly elevated. The sky has hasn't changes much but just started to rain.

Must say the forecast been pretty well spot on for the South, travelled quite far from France
