Just outside the reliable, too far north on the latest GFS but not by much.

The snow boundary is going to move multiple times and somewhere is going to get plastered by the looks of it.

Poor vis for the usual tops expedition up Oddendale. Opted for the Kent Estuary South Lakes.A  place (plaice) spent regularly on fantastic holidays growing up.

Gnarly and grim horizontal Cumbrian drizzle.

Nice area. Hopefully the development won’t happen.

 Day 10

Well knowing the North West's luck it'll be a cold rain and sleet fest or not even materialise at all like the phantom January blizzard 😁 Quietly confident of something colder with some snowy surprises before the end of Feb and meteorological Winter though.  We shall see...

Day 10  that’s where it will no doubt end up being.

It seems to be a common feature in recent winters for north of the Ribble, certainly high ground getting heavy snow with anywhere south seeing sleet or cold rain.

frustrating but definitely a pattern similar to the charts you showed

It's been a reasonable day in this part of the region, it's been dry, bright at times and very little wind out.

Still another month of meteorological winter to go, so no thoughts of spring in my mind yet.

I personally think it's a step backwards.

You can reply directly to another member without context or you can quote a whole post or selection of a post to add that context.  I'm not sure why it's considered a backwards step tbh.........

Because at first glance, all you are seeing is a name with an arrow. Too much faffing about now and content doesn't flow properly from the naked eye without having to highlight names or text.

Fair enough.  I just find it quite simple to highlight the text you want to quote in a reply.

I honestly really like it so just surprised others don't!   I've been on the forum for years but just as a reader rather than a contributor so maybe that's the difference.   You post a lot so will take you longer to get used to it perhaps!

Role reverse tomorrow, best of weather north of region.

damianslaw Candlemas tradition up here  -- farmers have to have half their feed for stock still in store.     Always going more snowy from now on -- specially in March.     But this year the mildness  from the  SW is powerfully lingering.

damianslaw been overcast mostly had a few glimpses of sun when the fog lifted this morning but slate grey most of the day… 😶‍🌫️ 😶‍🌫️

models north and south… be funny if it actually goes through the middle (our region) but to be fair no idea what’s going to happen next week… too far away…

Well I don't care for this notion of a mild day even though it is pushing the max temp  right now -- at 10.2C.  Cloudy with drizzle at times, miserably grey and feeling cold.  Brave mistle thrush has stirred this week and is shouting now and then into the wind from a tree top.  One crocus popped up yesterday.  But really we want sun to dry us out.  All we saw today was a low slit of yellow towards Cheshire.

Rain total for Jan here was 197.2 mm.

Rain Lady Yes. The Farming year commences. As if it never ends!  Something I heard about cattle feeding with more light?

I really starting to believe that daffodils more associated with Winter than Spring. They seem to grow earlier and earlier in recent years.

Iceaxecrampon Up here we are only halfway through winter, hence the barns and yards  have to have half their store of hay and silage left.  But now with intensive factory farming things are very different.  Seasons and traditions matter less when feed can be imported from all round the world  -- assuming it can be afforded and costs can be passed on to the consumer.    Yes with animals indoors for many months all winter the huge farm buildings are lit up like towns, but electric bills must be huge.
