Leeds isn't by the coast though and about 60m above sea level.

Day 10 by the river is 30m plus urban heat island effect. The northern part of the city centre is 60m though.

We've seen some snow here today, but nothing near the 15-20cm that was predicted with only Buxton copping the best of today's totals. A Yellow warning was necessary but the Amber was a bit overkill.

Altitude has made all the difference today, there is a patchy cover roughly 150-160m mark.. Wetherlam is peering into view and looking very white. The precipitation rate main factor, just too light to aid evaporative cooling, not far off a very heavy fall, but sadly its a wet grey scene outside. Nothing worse than being so near yet so far. Disappointing.

south and west Yorkshire always do well. Of course I've moved to snow shield Manchester city centre.

Lots of good things about Manchester but snow isn’t of them 🤣🤣

After all the snow that’s fallen today

this is the final accumulation.

annoying because  it could have been far better

Winter Hill Just wrong side of marginal for the bulk of the region away from 250m plus. Annoying! Sweet spot Peak District, south and west yorkshire down to very low levels, can only think these areas kept a higher precipitation rate than further west. Those in Wales will be extremely annoyed.

No doubt we'll have snow at easter!

Winter Hill pretty close to a really good fall but even here the fragmentation of the PPN and a slightly warmer air mass than predicted has pushed it to the wrong side of marginal. An inch of snow but it’s raining now so won’t be here for long

Foul day on the Cheshire Plain basically a colder version of Tuesday’s washout sleety rain this AM then just heavy rain easing off this afternoon, dry now. A bitter feeling E wind. So near yet so far as you can see a wet covering of snow on hills to the East & a dusting to local high points like Mow Cop on the Cheshire East/ N Staffs border, Stoke on Trent unusually not seeing any snow though. It’s been a bust for lower level NW England really rain-snow battleground events can deliver like Storm Christoph. Snow-rain tend to be just sleety rain at this altitude.

A complete non-event here. Best snowfalls are the surprise ones, I sensed yesterday it would go the wrong way. Still its only 8 Feb, last March delivered a number of snow days here after a snowless February.

Been in the shadow here, not seen any precipitation since this morning.  Being located directly under the southern peaks has sheltered Macc, precipitation blown over my location by a strong easterly wind, my roof has been rattling all day, still is.

Some lovely pics being posted, keep em coming, big thanks.😁😁❄️❄️☃️

Bleak out there.  Now fine drizzle in the E wind.  Snow on ground melting slowly.  Temp 1.3C.

A non event?

But that was Hypothermally Baltic out there. I’ve been cold cold & colder so many times but that was raw. Easterly wind direction with Totaler Schneeregen soaking the woodstore.

Not good for arthritic joints and Terriers didn’t last either. Pulling back down the lane after not even a mile.

Evening all.

Bit naff today, a non-event here, bits and pieces of sleet/wet snow but nothing to cause too much disruption to traffic - probably for the best in some ways.

This was the best I could do on my deliveries.... up near Strinesdale/Moorside - even at 300m+ above sea level it was still a slushy looking scene.   Anything below this was just going through an instant dying metamorphosis from solid to liquid on impact.

Home now and easterly winds feel quite raw, lots of cold rain teasing us from the south.

Just above the snow line here and so far we’ve ended up with a couple of inches cover whereas further down the valley it’s barely stuck even though it’s fallen constantly since it came light.

somethings still falling or rather blowing horizontally on a bitter east wind but I’m not sure what and it’s certainly not in large flake form.

all in all a disappointing day, even up here with the double whammy of marginal temperatures and lighter than expected precipitation although maybe our loss has been someone else’s gain.
