Blowing a hoolie here in Keswick at the moment, few heavy showers racing through as well. Think it's a tad windier than yesterday.

Seemed as though a squall line passed through at 7am with very heavy rain and driving wind. Frequent blustery showers since, interspersed with a few glimpses of the sun and no let up in the wind

Oh and it’s raining ☔️ again 🙄 here’s hoping May makes up for what’s been quite a poor Spring so far on the back of a very wet Autumn/ Winter period.

Joe Snow A similar May to last year would be great. That was a nice prolonged dry and settled spell that set in during May through to early June, pleasant temps by day and still cool enough at night for sleeping.

severe snowstorm yes, was a decent run of dry weather, if I remember rightly the NW fared better than the southern half of UK throughout this spell, even the Lakes had a decent run of dry days.  Then it rained, and it hasn't stopped.🙂

Rush2019 Yes, the NW fared very well during that spell, a few weeks of predominantly settled weather. The weather gods certainly made us pay the price for that settled spell.......and then some 😂

Scuba steve Certainly feels like it. I seem to recall concern over the depths of reservoirs at the time and that we could do with some rain. That aged well 😩😂🤣

A blustery day throughout, indeed windier than yesterday..Apart from a spit of rain, we've stayed dry remarkably. Not a good day's weather overall, no sun, and cool in the wind.

The coming week offers more wind and rain.

severe snowstormYes, we all said last April, May, June -  "We'll have to pay for this"- when the ditch bottoms were crispy and we were trying to seek shade from the blazing sun and there were no insects for the birds and the swallows had no mud for their nests.

Got to keep remembering the good times and hope this current wet sunless punishment soon stops.

Well when I came out of band practice this afternoon... guess what... it was raining again... heavy driving rain yet again.

I did see the Sun this morning and I feel very lucky. it only happens twice a week now it seems.

Weather-history Thanks for this  --  will compare.   Puzzled still -- where are the sites supplying this data?   Maybe such info is in a footnote somewhere?    Met Office / EA have an automatic tipper on the site next to the manual gauge here.    It is wireless linked to EA HQ so they now get info quickly from this black box tech.    However all sorts of debris, such as  leaves, seeds, bird droppings, slugs and spiders,  can occasionally make it unreliable.    I've even known thieving jackdaws take away the shiny filter.   Also the auto doesn't cope well with ice and snow.    Just sits and sulks till it thaws.  The manual gauge however is given personal attention once a day -- thawed out when frozen up etc so no readings are missed.

Morning all.

What is there to say. Sounding like a record stuck in a groove....

Grey, damp and mild.

Dry at the moment but evidence underfoot of yet more rain overnight, confirmed by Mrs FLT who had to leave before daybreak. So terribly wet on the ground and going to need a few completely rain-free days to start drying things out, and this seems unlikely in this Region before the weekend if last night's Countryfile forecast for the week ahead is to be believed.

Well it's been raining again and it looks like I won't see the Sun until Thursday. Just feels so strange in April.
38.9 mm for the month, 313.2 mm for the year already.

Yesterday turned out to be wetter than forecast - shocker. Car needed washed, just did it anyway.

Wet this morning, light rain but clearing. The dog is starting to give me dirty looks now, I think even he is tired of it all.

Tomorrow looks grim, then maybe a couple of settled days and the rain back at the weekend.

Rain Lady  Yes, we live in a beautiful country, even though a little trip to Matlock was marred with rain yesterday the scenery was stunning.  Every shade of green was evident on the hills,  contrasting with pastel lime colours of all types of moss thriving in these wet conditions.  Vibrant yellow gorse is in full bloom and the river Wye running along side the A6 was in full spate  attracting a few herons, it was a stunning little run out.

Damp, 11.1°C currently and dark.  Fed up of having the lights on in the house nearly all day too.
