Well I've been cold today. Went out to the bin and. Chickens and a cold breeze. I even put the heating on. That said ... I had a shock when I stood on the scales to find out I have lost 5lb and am now 7st 1lb!!!

Mapantz I was wondering the same thing. But maybe that band of rain will move across to us and then become stationary.

Apart from the odd day it has been mostly grey, rainy and mild so far this year. Really looking forward to spring and summer now.

Currently not looking as though it's going to do vey much across the area. Have MetO goofed again?

Unless there's more lurking at the back end of this.

It may be a convoluted story:

Absolutely chucking it down here for the last few hours! Floods will no doubt be prevalent once again on soddened ground from ahead heavy rain through last week and huge amounts the weeks prior to that.

Looks like lots more to come the next week or so aswell .

Back in the West Country after a quick trip to Suffolk. Guess what… it’s raining!

Amazed how much rain there is given how high the pressure is!

MP-R I was thinking exactly the same earlier I looked at the pressure charts saw the high-pressure that looked very close by and yet there’s this astonishing amount of rain so close, so I refresh the charts, thinking that I was looking at an old set from a few days before or something but it refreshed and showed the same set of charts. So a great observation from you MPR as I thought the same.

Still chucking it down very  heavy rain since 5pm

Not sure what's going on with the Met Office forecast, but the app and the website show different weather values.

MP-R The other thing I just noticed is if you move the slider, Backwards and forwards. Some of the rain is actually just forming over the top of us. It’s not actually moving in from the west otherwise the backend would’ve been past us but if you look you can see it’s just red that’s forming and staying over us where is the lighter stuff is moving from East west it’s quite strange don’t quite know how that phenomenal works. It’s not like this part of the world is up on the side of the mountain and so one side of the mountain is stuck in the moisture out and the other side is dry which I have seen with rain coming in through the Irish seat up into the Lake District before or Cumbria or Wales, and sometimes you see light rain that turns heavy up on the side of the mountain, but like I say there’s no mountains here so how it’s doing that is quite strange

offerman Yes I’m not sure why that is as it seems to be happening over lower rather than higher ground 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tomorrow and Monday at least look brighter during the daylight hours. Fingers crossed for sun!

A lot of rain gone through the upper Thames valley in a 12hr period. Could see some flooding issues locally with the river already at the top of its banks before this rain event started. The River Ock was flooded over the Abingdon Tesco car park just last weekend for the 2nd time this year so that'll probably repeat again.

My last posts were saying how much rain we had had, but I was awoken in the night by even heavier rain I couldn’t believe it. It was literally torrential. Thought it was heavy enough earlier on from daylight hours into the evening. Up to midnight.

but look at the radar from in the middle all the night when I was woken by the rain
