You are right about northerlies being virtually extinct.as you say ,north westerlies are no good to east yorkshire.why we dont see northerlies is a mystery

I think these flakes need to get bigger here if we going to see settling on the ground.

Nice to see it falling though.

Still moderate sleety snow here. 1deg dew 0.

Need heavier precipitation.

Heavier stuff to the south keeps losing intensity as it moves north.

Can't wait untill it's over and we turn dry next week.

Enjoy high up👍

Temperature now down to 0.3c and a dew point of -1c, slightly lower than the high res suggested for this time (around 2pm to 6pm). Snowing light to moderately though still struggling on pavements. Radar and models suggest an increase in intensity around mid afternoon which should help snow stick everywhere, especially if the temperature can drop a  little more. All being well, it might remain as snow into the evening before turning back to rain again around late evening.

It was starting to settle at the top of the M606 and into Bradford this morning. It's fluffy rain in the centre  - snow that isn't settling.

Will find out how bad it gets as I make my way out of the centre later.

My CCTV at home shows slushy wet snow that is settling on roofs and cars.

Is it me or is the precipitation dying out from the south west. Looking at radar looks to me like there will be nothing falling from around 2pm at best but can only imagine it will build up again as we go through the day

The precip loses energy as it moves north, looking at the radar. Would be good for you guys high up if it didn't.

Meanwhile,in the mod thread, some realisation kicking in amongst the"big hitters" that things look like not falling our way in the extended lol.

One or two are conspicuous for their absence on there this morning.

No doubt they'll turn back up if a chink of light shows up to tell us how it is again......

Still time for settling snow - it started off as a complete slush fest here but a good covering now. I'm at elevation of 140m though which is definitely helping

Big flakes here and it's sticking nicely, already sounds like mayhem on the higher routes looking at FB travel info

2-3 cm lying here in west Sheffield at 200m. Nice to look out at, but only the second very fleeting  snowfall of the winter and this will all be gone by tomorrow morning. We don’t do badly in Sheffield, I realise, compared to many in the region, but sadly CC will make snowy days a rarer and rarer phenomenon. Ho hum! I’ll take today and make believe I’m living in Norway for one day only.

Hatewarmth yeah I agree, was just thinking the same. Radar already showing a clearance around Birmingham and moving north so unless it slows down or back builds then I'm not sure how it's supposed to snow into the evening, which the forecast still shows...

Winter Cold Basically, a low center will develop along this one and progress ENE, you can kind of see this feature over Wales. This means that our current system will flatten rather than moving through in theory.

The rain is the stuff to the south west that will catch up near midnight.

Pipine Did it settle on roads straight away for you or is it the precipitation intensity which has made that difference.
