danm I'm in the lake district with a friend. Hoping for at least semi-dry, usable weather 😆

Didn't have any rain earlier during the day so the weather is making up for it now! Jheez.

baddie  Very windy every day... if it wasn't raining it'd be good weather for drying the laundry 🤣

danm 20c & completely overcast skies, what an absolute waste lol. I actually hope it doesn't happen & our first 20c day is reserved for an actual decent day with lots of sunshine 🤞

It's mild, but at what cost...

whatever happened to that SSW response, please let it show something pleasant.

Waiting for UK county data...

Here is all the official Met sunshine data for 24 locations throughout the UK for 2024.

Note how the Scottish Highlands are the sunniest place so far this year 😂

Grey, 12c, drizzle.

March 2024, for the area, as told by our local Meto guy on local tv last night.

74% of normal March sunshine levels

124% of 'normal' rainfall

Above average temps, to which my wife exclaimed "Really?!"😁

EDIT: Drizzle quickly replaced by driving rain

SunSean Parts of Scotland and Ireland always end up being the sunniest places during patterns like this. Was the same in 2021.

SunSean  *Stormforce~beka* at the moment, I'll take warm and cloudy over cool and showery.

We may get some sunny breaks too which will make it feel nice, albeit Saturday could be very breezy. On the face of it, this looks OK:

Forecast for the 6th-8th looking decent. Windy but not too wet, Sunny spells and quite warm. Perhaps straight W-lies or NW-lies on the 9th. Possibly followed by a dryer spell mid-week. We really do need cold mornings followed by mild days, havent had that all year (Maybe next week is our chance???)

SunSeanthe Met Office currently showing Saturday to be sunny spells and 18C here, so not wet or overcast. After Thursday it actually looks pretty decent.

Another dull, dreary, cloudy day. Apparently brightening up a bit later but we'll see.

It's not raining at least, so could be worse I suppose...

cheese Cloudier in the SE than in the North over the weekend, looks like

March temps were certainly above average, but this is because of night time temps staying up rather than day time temps which were often cool and under a lot of rain too. I did post end of Feb or very early March when I saw the blocking to the north I worried about a March 2013 and as far as I am concerned it's played out in my lived experience as bad. Just looking a the tulips outside I feel totally detached from them, the daffodils passed me by and so has spring in some sense, still feels the same as winter to me.

The NW ain't looking too good. More like a continuation of the weather we've seen in the last 6 months.

danm Showing more overcast on my phone.

Although, I imagine it may be the classic case of 'overly pessimistic' app forecast.
