Winter continues with a max of 4C and heavy sleety showers this morning. Now at 2C also and seems to be heading downwards still.

During February there was just one area of the UK which experienced below average temperatures.   Early as it is, so far the same area is the only part of the UK to have experienced above average temperatures.

Huntforsnow  It's amazing what you can capture on a phone these days.

I managed to get a photo years ago, but involved standing in a cold field with a Cannon DSLR on a tripod.  This was my five minutes of fame. I got the photo published in the Kilmarnock standard!

After a wet weekend, that has returned the lawn to a marsh, new week off to a mainly sunny start.

Overnight low of -3c, currently 5c with a steady SSW wind.  Warm in the sun, definitely winter in the shade!

Grim weather matched by the grim number of responses to this thread!

Persistent moderate rain in the morning, now dry but very slow drying of wet hard surfaces (and its mud ahoy elsewhere).

Feeling cold in a steady SE wind; thermometer alleges its 6.9c outside.

Cold and raw Saturday with wet snow off and on, better since frosty mornings and decent spells of snow which, if you can out of the biting se wind has a bit of warmth to it.

Has felt quite spring like here the last two days, which is just as well as had my hair cut today and think my hairdresser got distracted. Feel like I've been scalped and now have chilly ears and no side bangs to hide my double chin.

Aberdeenshire Permagloom™ in all its glory once again, with sporadic light rain being blown in on a steady SE wind.

Add in a temperature of only 5c and its most definitely winterlike outside.

Fine bright day but with a cold SE wind. Things steadily drying up .Young Mr Northernlights getting a few stones off.  Countryside living up  to my assertion that March is the hungriest month of the  year looking absolutely washed out. Currently 6c

Got the feeling the mess in the ensembles suggest something is up? Fort William has a 5ºc spread in 850hpa temperatures on the 12z GFS for 6am TOMORROW - at T+18hrs. Nuts!

mardatha You're not the only one, mid single digits and overcast just doesn't float my boat. Even mid single digits and sunny at this point of the winter is only a slight improvement. If we can't have a nice snowy spell then I'd rather have some warmer weather, be inclined to get outside more, and save on the heating bills.

Quite impressive temp inversion / difference locally this morning. 1c at Edinburgh Airport (4 miles away in a straight line) but here with just a modest increase in elevation it's already 6c!

The gloom showed signs of breaking up for a while this morning but the cloud won out. Feeling colder than the current 7C with the breeze having veered round and strengthened a bit from yesterdays SSE to due East today. Hoping for but not really expecting a nicer day tomorrow in Edinburgh as heading off there to meet a few old pals for lunch and a few beers.

Good day (or should I say week) for Pantone Grey spotting...

image.thumb.png.8732476666f80b6b5b4036e8df7061cc.png

Hint of drizzle in the gentle east wind and a frigid feeling 4c.

Spring is not exactly getting off to a great start.

Well the 06z GFS is a horror show for the ski areas as it rolls out, days of damp, dreich, clagged in mild snow eating muck next week. 😟

Oh and throw in bouts of Storm Force winds too with the heavier rain. ☠️

It was a 'Cool grey 2u' (see Quinach's chart) sort of day today, especially on this afternoon's dog walk. Also cool with a biting cold wind, so not exactly pleasant.

Back to dreich cold windy weather today currently 4.5c. Was 2c this morning going through to Thainstone  at the Glens of Foundland with some neep crops that looked as though they had been severely frosted in the winter completely brown.

Hmm well I think we've maybe fared a little better than the folk out east, maybe the black isle could be renamed the land of pink and grey just now with the colours is the sky slightly bookending the days. There have been one or two crackers (blue sky, no wind) and some that have failed (eg today with a fierce cold easterly and little sun at all) and overall still a very wintry feel.

Orrin080324.thumb.jpg.a37403d4c997c09ac1153ef418af1820.jpg  This was Glen Orrin today with slightly less snow than at the start of last week - perhaps the zone of uncertainty has gone up 100m or so, not much more.

I've been out there most days recently and I'm still in full winter kit unless it's (rarely) both still and sunny. Those the days you learn to cherish, not to tear around blindly but pause and appreciate our place in the universe. Oh dear....

I heard the 1st Golden Plover today. However 1 GP maketh not a spring, or some such drivel. The wind is swirling in the chimney this evening.
