  1. still no thunder, showers have developed though , quite heavy, maybe this is all we get, looks a bit messy tbh
  2. if that was just a rogue single strike that thunder sound carried a long way , that looks to the south east of warrington , maybe 15 miles away from here, wonder if it was a positive cg groundshaker
  3. not a wheely bin , a definate rumble ?, must be what i heard then too, quite distant though, like a low faint grumble
  4. going dark to my south , sure i heard very distant thunder, but now think it was a wheely bin, damn
  5. doubt any thunderstorm for here tbh, the amount of times the nw gets forcasted storm activity, only for other area s to steal them i have lost count now,
  6. ah well, all towering cumulus have gone, and left with this nice sunset and stable sky, not sure what this week will bring here but we have had 3 thunder days so far in 2016, hoping for quite a few more
  7. had a huge mountainous cumulus building an hour or two ago, it just never got to the shower/storm stage and fizzed later
  8. if patchy moderate rain floats your boat its a fantastic evening out there
  9. how many times does this happen in the nw, lost count , we had all the lightning graphics and pecipitaion over us on the forcast , with other parts of the uk seeing not much on the charts , the reality is the south and west midlands got it, and whats betting southern coastal areas get somthing later, naff all here apart from spots of drizzle
  10. always a bad sign, that carl, when an active thunder shower ot storm is approaching you usually hear / see thunder lighthing before tha rain, if its starts raining and there is nothing , it usually means there is nothing too been around long enough to experience this many times
  11. the north west was forecast to be the focus of the storms this afternnoon and early evening, looks like the midlands was the prime area, hope these dont die off , as we are up wind, but feel they will fizzle by the time they reach this region, still have slight hope , but i am prepairing for dissapiontment, *opens bottle of wine*
  12. thunder here, saw a couple of forks of CC you could hear the hail coming like a train amazing, gusty wind with the storm, now calm again, third thunder day of 2016
  13. does seem to be a reccuriing theme over the 3 years or so, mild winters, coolish summer overall, with the odd fleeting heatwave, the last prologed summer heatwave was july 2013, its seemed to go on a couple of weeks, slighty relented then reloaded the heat and sunshine , until august which was meh, since then heatwaves are short sweet and rare, just like severe deep cold in winter, yes our climate is now perpetual autumn
  14. yes , the season of below average has begun, 10.1c
  15. any decent temps forcast , been a dissapiontingly cool spring so far, seems sunny weather too has been a premum, i know its still early in the year , lovely crisp start clear sunny morning , but as usual, the thin high cloud is getting thicker and now making the sun weak and milky, there is an all too common greyness setting in again those days of a clear blue sky all day with strong sun but the odd bit cirruis waving across occasionaly seem history
  16. just had a flash and rumble here , gusty winds, brief burst of heavy rain , all stopped now
  17. had small thunderstorm this afternoon, a few decent flashes and rumbles, heavy hail
  18. this is exactly my point, to be fair though today has been good , very springlike in the warming sun, with just a hint of haze for the sultry effect , although its been far from sultry, i fear the rest of the week will be cruddy and cool
  19. anybody else feel this protracted spell of high pressure is wasted, its rare thesedays, but we know this will end up a dirty high, and better use would be made of it later in the year such as late april, may or june when the sun can do its magic and burn the crud off, i fear this will be a spell of featureless grim stratus, and 'meh' temps to please no one, 9c and dull , no thanks
  20. how can pleasant 16 temps be a nightmare, gawds sake, bring it on, its time for spring, not more dregs of winter
  21. indeed, the nuisance factor faux cold sticking around now is adding salt into the wound for fans of real cold and snow, just go away and lets have spring in, you had your chance winter and failed , now naff off
  22. I hate easterlies in march, pointless faux cold , stratus laden boring fest, although that cloud tends to break sometimes on this side of the pennines
  23. soon to be entering that time of year when the months seem to have a better chance of retuning below average values regarding temps
