  1. i dont think its pessimism on my part, just being realistic, late spring and summer are a while off yet , but lets not kid ourselves, the chance of something bland, probably coolish, lots of cloudy days is much greater than a sunnier and warmer than average summer , it can happen, and will be a nice surprise if it does , just dont expect it
  2. you can bet the spring and summer will be cool and cloudy with winds mostly from the northwest qaudrant, from the cooler north altantic, simlar to 2015 seems to out winters are becoming above average, and our summers below average , only in blighty
  3. its going to ruin summer again isnt it ?
  4. I think i am in a minority but i like that skyscraper
  5. at least my two worst months of the year are closing , i just see feb as a transition month , then march as a countdown to spring love march, even if its cold , as all the best months are ahead
  6. i want a dry spring , but with some convective activity thrown in ,
  7. all true but minus the lightning bolts , they are a rarity
  8. saw one flash of lightning at about 0715am in the dark this morning, driving into work in st helens , from those cells I assume
  9. just cant wait for spring, never liked the months of december and january , my two most despised and hated months of the year , we got mild rain in december , and now even worse replaced with cold rain, yes its raining as I type, cold dark damp miserable, winter just go! at least we are on the upward side now, as for snow , no thanks , but at least its better than incessantly falling and flooding winter rains
  10. bit worried about frank, boxing day had small river in the gutters from local flooding not far away on the entrance to my housing estate, hope this does not produce a raging torrent, i thought boxing day was a rare thing to see flooding in that location, but the same might happen again, despite being a storm lover these are not the type of weather events i want, high winds do not worry me, neither do violent thunderstorms in summer, but inccessant flooding rains do
  11. I belive nature is more resiliant than we give credit, look at the ridiclously cold spring of 2013, ok it killed many lambs, but nature just resumed as normal as soon as it warmed up , the daffs were just delayed rather than missing a flowering season
  12. ha yes , so devasting that some people have a little more money over christmas , instead of paying out to british gas just to keep warm
  13. and summery weather can happen in those months, lying snow after march is very rare here thank god, even the cold spring of 2013 was tame compared to dec2010 which i detested with passion, we had a some settling snow in early april 2013, during that notable wintery spell, but as soon as the warming sun appeared it was banished by late afternoon, infact i like those chilly northerlies in spring as they can cause sharp hail pellets in cumilonimbus cells, as the warming sun heats up pockets through the cold air
  14. no, me too, not missing ice this year or past few years ! , today was good , warm and DRY, but still prefer rain over ice and snow, once we get to feb i dont care if it gets cold and icy, spring is only a month or two away by then , so i can live with it
  15. the pic of the young girl with her teeth brace hugging a bunch of daffs , only the express http://www.express.co.uk/news/weather/626661/Christmas-weather-spring-flowers-bee-snow-ice-mild
  16. I only really start to notice the lengthing daylight by the end of jan , early feb, until then a month and a half of dark gloom ensues, even when the sun is out its too low to make it really bright
  17. still the count down to spring for me, but yes , happens more often than not, but after dec 2010 it got much milder into the latter half of winter, so its not a done deal, but it couldnt really maintain that intensity of cold all winter , but also this mild cannot continue well into feb , can it?
  18. and in 14 days time the nights will slowly get lighter
  19. I do think joe public prefer sunny calm cold weather as opposed to grey wet and windy in winter, i like grey wet windy in winter as long as we get sunny ,warm weather in the right season with some thunder , snow can do one, but its all part of the climate system, so when it comes I just put up for a few days .... or just hours lately , nature does what it does
  20. I actually agree with you! although it does look nice like this , for a while anyway, then i get bored of monotous white after say... 2 days, and want greens, browns, greys, blues, purples and all the other subtle colours of the landscape to come back, and besides, it usually goes grey and slushy and just a damn nuisance, and god forbid that slush refreezes, just nasty. it also represents cold and winter, my hated season, only 3 full months to the start of march, cant wait
