  1. http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2014/06/02/3443604/australia-hottest-two-years/ so unusually hot record breaking weather is climate change, the persistent record breaking cold in the USA shhhh , thats just weather
  2. I am getting the beers in ready to drown my sorrows when the' thundery showers' fail to happen here on saturday, anyone else bringing a can or two
  3. thats it now folks , you know whatever sensationalist headlines they have in the express the opposite happens,I dont expect storms now, not that we would have got any here anyway
  4. I bet someone mentions thats its all selective memory....well it isn't, dont even go there anyway the 80's was not just better for storms , some great music was around, just been listening to a China Crisis LP on vinyl of course, anyone remember the live aid concert, guess what else was going on that evening, yes you guessed , a couple of MCS storms were rumbling away northwards to give an overnight display.....as it happens, thats the 80's for ya
  5. no nothing here this year, must only be a very select few left in here, even jane and cloudwatcher have had a storm tomorrow is forecast thunder possible in west, but I am too far east, if its not that I am always too far west heavy shower with thunder later was mentioned in a local BBC weather bulletin , i laughed and dismissed it immediately, how can they be so ignorant now if they has said a 0.001% risk of thunder they would have been more accurate, the real risk turned out to be 0%
  6. and we are hard pushed to even get the farts, I really really really hate lack of thunder now , and to make things worse I live in one of the most thunder deprived parts of a thunder deprived country, double whammy, the reason why I am so bitter is it seems to be getting worse year on year, when we were mislead into believing flash storms will get more common because of GW, HA bleedin HA take me back to the eighties please, we had quite a few humdingers per year then , even here sorry rant over...and out
  7. so was radio manchester , they talked of dry at first then heavy showers....with thunder, was in the car at the time and my dad said oooo thunder, and i said,....will not be any he said...so you know better then I said, yes, absolutely,. when it comes to thunder there will not be any today here, does not matter what some muppet says on the radio lol
  8. nothing remotely thundery will happen here as usual in this, the most thunder free part of england, just 100 percent overcast with murky drab stratus and moderate rain, and very cool again for late may day, yuk , just like late october there has only been one very distant rumble here since last october, outrageous !
  9. storm in manchester, big storm over liverpool the other day, and north over cumbria , storms along the lancashire coast storm in wigan....hahaha dont make me laugh dont know what to blame anymore, it must be something about wigan, hey folks if any of you hate storms move here
  10. not here its not, cold, overcast, moderate shower just gone through, sod it, I am off to the gym
  11. well I suppose I am still here , despite me seeing some good forked lightning the other night but had to go on a 30 mile round trip to see it. we didnt actually get anything here this must be the most thunder free town in the uk, we are always too far west . then if storms do break out in the west we miraculously become to far east, don't suppose any of this thundery stuff going on down south and in the midlands will appear here thought not
  12. saw dark ominous cloud from wigan looking west but knew by the look of it that is must electrical, so took a drive down the a580 and sure enough started to see lightning as I approached around the St Helene area toward Liverpool, saw about 20 plus flashes of cg, intracloud and sheet lightning all pinkish and blue in colour, not the most frequent lightning but not bad for a storm starved guy like me
  13. its very rare for the north west to be near the thunderstorm hotspot, and look were they all bleedin are !! over the supposedly storm killer Irish sea, and looks like they wont move over the land of north west England why not the hotter land
  14. I will be here too, mark my words always the wrong location this, I can see large cumulus developing to my north , and few to the west, they will contunue to push up away from here, then probably develop into thunderstorms , ok nighttime distant lightning show perhaps then ....nah ,not even that lucky , they will be too far north by then
  15. nothing here as usual, few heavy-ish showers this morning and some nice convective skies though to compensate
  16. looks like if anything will happen it will be over yorkshire way, no surprises there really, just another rubbish day here, at least we had a blustery shower earlier whilst i was at salford quays, think that was the excitement for the day, come on weather, give us some spring storms here , like you did in the eighties,
  17. as soon as i saw who is predicting this I dissimissed it ,no doubt it will get a little warmer as the month moves on , but we can kiss goodbye to any heatwaves now , as the opposite thing normally happens to what he says
  18. just out of interest, just look how such a small cb can produce sferics , love the distant gunshot thunder,
  19. its not just the last few days , the whole year so far has been disappointing, even last year there was more convective activity in the north west by this time, hope its not october again before we see decent widespread activity, that was just ridiculous
  20. so was the weather, as far as thundery stuff was concerned
  21. http://informthepundits.wordpress.com/2014/04/03/sunspots-2014-march-another-record-breaking-month/
  22. Unfortunately, I expect that to diminish to a drizzly shower or fizzle completely once it passes over the Mersey basin ,
  23. I am just north and east of Newton in on the east side of wigan, just grey and boring here, but with hazy sun, The usual thing is happening were anything interesting develops to the east of here, then pushes further east into yorkshire, who would have thought *sulks back off to the no storms club*
  24. I joining the no storms club even though I got a got out in the Autumn of 2013 I am renewing my membership for the 2014 season, I feel it will a poor one again for storms here, a real gut feeling ! OK I had two distant flashes and a faint rumble in march, not a storm in my books chance today , but I feel I am to far north , forget that.,... absolutely no chance today, being realistic
