  1. Just a slight swaying of branches here and some moderate rain earlier in the weather void known as Greater Manchester, cant believe a near record low is sitting up to our northwest, the Brussel sprouts generated more wind at Sunday lunch yesterday
  2. All of these so called intense systems so far this Autumn/Winter have produced nothing more than leaf rustlers/twig movers here, the only notable thing was the intense rain and hail for 2 minutes during Wedenesday nights squall
  3. Didn't even get round one here, just a twig mover, a non event
  4. next time some mistiness is forecast... Killer mega fog to engulf UK
  5. The only way this event will get back into the news now is if the Thames barrier failed and the whole of central London including Parliament was submerged under several feet of water
  6. had a bit of a storm after lunch when in Manchester earlier, saw a couple of flashes and a few rumbles, nothing major though but nice to see again in whats been an interesting autumn here for convection, warm seas after that warm summer no doubt is the cause, lets hope the winter is not a prolonged severe cold one, we need to keep those SST high for a more active year next year, the spring and summer itself was poor for storms, no doubt because of the unusual cold march....but now the SST have recovered it seems to be feeding the convection for autumn
  7. line of cumulonimbus's to my north with defined anvils and they seem to be merging together , not sure if anything electrical in them,
  8. I was under one of those cells at 4.00pm, torrential rain and hail, no thunder though Saturday I witnessed some spectacular lightning which moved north east of here to Bolton and did this, one of three potent storms that have happened in the last fortnight in this locality this is what you fear when the storm is overhead http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-24802263
  9. its gone calm here after our thunder shower earlier, not that is was all that windy anyway !
  10. Thunderstorm just to the east of here at about 16.15 pm saw about 8 flashes and some rumbles, not as good as the one last week and the one a fortnight ago, which co- incidentaly happened about the same time on a Saturday
  11. going dark to my southeast, towers around can we possibly get two storms in one day in wigan lol surely not
  12. second decent storm here within a week! some close cracks, seems to be more electrically active as it moved north of here constant thunder now to my north, wow
  13. not building hopes for anything thundery here today, yesterday gave us a good lightning show out of nowhere so cant complain , must have seen 50 or so flashes of lightning, and a few CG's thrown in, it was an old school summer storm.... in late october lol
  14. if two storms hit wigan area in 24 hours it will be a rare event , might see some distant flashes late tonight perhaps, BBC did mention another band of showers moving up the midlands overnight towards here , so who knows.
  15. Best storm I have seen this year, there were flashes every 15 seconds, sometimes more frequent, was not direct overhead though, thunder was not loud , just a constant distant growling , and nice vivid purple blue forks and sheets the wigan storm shield must be down for maintenance
  16. frequent blue CGs spitting out just west of here and thunder
  17. If I had known that storm was going on in LIverpool I would have easily seen the bright lightning over to the west of here, but I was watching TV at the time with the curtains closed and unaware, damn it, should have gone on netweather instead
  18. Thats incredibly bad but next year expect the complete demise of that once great weather event known as the thunderstorm
  19. same happened here, we were forecast very intense rain for the drive home from work, then thunder showers to follow, errr no, Get real , more like moderate rain then clear spells for tonight, surely next year cant be as bad, the worst year ever , ever , ever, and I was around in the good old seventies, when thunder and lightning was almost like the bread and butter of our weather, now its like some kind of rare elusive phenomena, that you wonder if you will ever see again in your life time
  20. At luchtime bbc showed multiple animated lightning graphics all up the west of the country, ie wales Irish sea into Scotland, and I though THATS JINXED IT....lo and behold, what a surprise,
  21. Good stuff must say I am a little jealous, but its going to be a nice warm sunny day here I would take the storms first though, i wonder if the warm summer has raised the sea temps making these MCS systems survive and flourish....enjoy
  22. That express story, oh dear ,oh dear, oh dear, 'Fierce' what a load of utter tosh, I will platt dry sawdust if there is anything remotely 'Fierce' what will really happen is there will be periods of rain or showers for places and there MIGHT be the odd rumble of thunder mixed in for a couple of select places, but mostly it will be non electrical rain for the majority Its so easy to write the script thesedays for these events, seen it time and time again and I am always right And another 100 percent accurate prediction from me ,,,,, there will be no 'Fierce' thunderstorms here or any other type of thunderstorm Then again I suppose if anywhere in the UK gets more than 3 rumbles from a shower I suppose it could be classed as 'Fierce' by todays standards
  23. we would all have never existed if it were not for that hot ball of fire that some people here wish to be diminished or gone. its needs be worshiped, not wished away, you ungrateful lot I will get my coat
