  1. The problem is we are getting cooldowns anyway, but not the short sharp cool downs via thunder and downpours, but just boring cloudy maybe drizzley stuff from the northwest or northeast , Good job I have other interests in life , but storms add a little qaulity. lets see, an alternation between warm sunny weather and storms , or an alternation between warm sunny weather and weakish drizzle fronts from the north.... oh its so hard to decide , the outlook seems in boring a stuck pattern again, giving average or slighty above in places with cloud and maybe sunny spells.. sorry I am just having thunder withdrawal
  2. I suppose I can have a moan in here since this is a moaning thread, but I see this hot spell going out in a wimper rather than thundery fireworks, I just KNOW the high will gradually retreat back to the southwest allowing a cooler cloudier weather to spill round it from the north west pretty much the same boring routine we saw through June, WHY WHY WHY its always the same now. The only intersting thing that will happen is were the patchy light rain or drzzle will affect. I will be lucky to experience even a distant rumble before the year is out. RANT OVER.....for now
  3. there wont be any in manchester , weak cold fronts from the north do nothing here for storms, never have, we need an active front from the west or a southerly or eastery type plume from the continent
  4. Thats what i was thinking, is this going to be least thundery year in most peoples lifetimes?, its shaping up that way. the clock is now ticking, come september the chances will be very slim, The last half of July and august need to be thundery months to adress the balance but I am not so sure they will be, other wise it will definatly be be the least thundery year in my lifetime. And I thought last year was bad !! but its was a thunder fest compared to this year, A whole summer void of action is unthinkable, but looking possible ATM, it would be very shocking as far as I am concerened
  5. I am only 16 miles from manc but there is some annoying high clouds around that keep making the sun weak , it just vanished altogther for a short time..... I hope they bugger off
  6. really bored of this summer, yes its drier than last year but what a yawnfest, no proper warmth, temps always seem to be just a little below average, when it rains it just patchy type rain from grey featureless stratus and nothing really convective , we have had some reasonable amount of sun but it does not feel all that hot, and as for storms , I really have to pinch myself to believe it is actually even worse than lasts years woeful record. we had at least two decent ones by this stage , Is this the year that I have been dreading?.... where absoloutly no storms occur for the whole of the summer months, with that azores high persistanty in trying to push in but unable to, it looks like a bland no mans land of weather for the forseeable, with persistant westerlies or northwesterlies with pressure never high enough for proper heat or low enough to get convection going, bland , bland , bland, bland, bland..... well it is the moaning thread
  7. Wow, just wow, I would love to be there, Wrexham will get one like that, may have to wait 1000 years never seen anything as vicoius as that but did once get a corker in italy that mesemerised me and made me cringe at where the next CG was going to land few hefty showers passing through here atm, might be lucky and get a flash and bang or two, but doubt it ,ahhhh well
  8. to get to almost july and have had no notable convective type period, ....*he says as there is a torrential shower going on now outside as I type*
  9. but there must a reason we are having poor summers even though last summer was very rainy and considered poor and it was by anyones standard, yet it was more intersting than this bland affair we are enduring this year, last year we had at least some decent heat by now, and a few thunderstorms, this year seems a nothingness, apart from a few sunny days but no notable heat, and a lot of the time it has been uniform bland featurless grey stratus , Good convective days have been virtually non existant, unprecedented so late in the year as far as I am concerened
  10. a little unsure 15.5c, but I can say a long term below average figure will occur for sure
  11. You will be lucky mate, its one of the worst areas for thundersorms , just like here you will have more chance of platting sawdust thesedays
  12. I have been noticing as each year passses since about 2008 ,thunder count days are getting less, I class a thunder day where thunder is heard from your location, it can be just one rumble to as many as you like , and it can include faint distant rumbles. This is the first year in my 40 year life that I have only had one at this stage in the year, Really is unprecedented, I am convinced not far in the future there will be a year with not one single rumble heard for the whole 12 months, Its coming. Bad times,
  13. More chance platting dry sawdust than a thunderstorm happening here this week
  14. My very low 12.4 does not seem that extreme after all !!
  15. 40c in the UK, absoloutly not, never in our lifetimes. even 30c is getting very difficult to acheieve, although 30c is likely again at some time in the future in the south of UK , We hit 30c here a few select times during the warm years a decade ago, but doubt in will happen again. Even getting over 21c is a push, which is utterly ridiclous for mid summer, the climate is definatly cooling
  16. small chance of summat today, but its probably a 1% chance here, it will be mainly in linolshire no doubt, well what a surpise...zzzzz
  17. Nice to know the Channel didnt fizzle it out, could bode well for mid/late summer if we get a northward tracking plume , just like those times in the eighties and ninties, seems so rare and near on impossible now,
  18. Does about 4 or 5 distant rumbles count ? Thats all I have had this year, It seems there are less and less storms as each year goes by, to the point were there will be a grand total of 0 in a rolling year, it was never like this in my 40 odd years of existance , last year was one of the poorest but I did see 2 decent ones , a night show of distant lightning and the odd distant rumble . This year I am doubting even that
  19. although I have predicted below average temps for the all months since the start of the year, my predictions have still been too high. So I am predicting a very low 12.4 , The below average theme will just go on and on, Climate change is here How long will it take the met office to revise down what is actually average in our cooling climate
  20. winters a long way off, november actually, just like the coldest weather usually occurs after the shortest day, warmer weather is more likely after the longest day, July is statistically hotter than june , and august is as just likely to be as warm or warmer than june.I say warm , tepid is more apt thesedays , were is that warming climate the boffins were so adamant about a few years ago. olive trees and vinyards in Cheshire my a*****
  21. could hear this storm over here in wigan, sat out in the garden in bright warm sunshine, brilliant white bubbling cumolus over that way with very dark base, love days like this, its beetham tower btw (he says, correcting my own spelling as typing)
  22. 11c going for the continuing theme of below average, all my predictions have been below the average for that particular month.....and still been too high!
  23. Ha thats what I though, , it wont be here thats for sure
